As some of the commanders are getting tweaked, it might be worth changing the IL-2 Sturmovik Attacks for 'Advanced Warfare Tactics' to a loiter, rather than a one off strafe.

It's a small change but would improve the commander.

They could even just improve the strafe as it's complete garbage in it's current state.

Significant change of missing and also a significant chance of doing nothing even if you target it correctly.

Let them auto acquire targets like JU87s, Sturmovic loiter, Supression planes ect.

All the abilities which let you choose plane mg targets are terrible because of their inconsistency.

The strafe isn't garbage, its UI indictator is off. You need to place it farther than intended for it to actually hit its mark.

That should still be fixed, at the least.

IMO the strafe overall should be more consistent too. I'm a big fan of strafes over loiters since they're (IMO) less frustrating for both sides and take more skills, but that's given that both work correctly.

At this point, just scrap it and replace it with the IL2 rocket strafe.

This would make this commander my number one pick. 2Cp Ppsh, radio intercept, rocket strafe and the T34-85.

Actually I believe the UI indicator was fixed during Mr Smiths time. The ability just sucks.

edit: Did a couple tests and it still looks like the payload is heavily weighted to the back half but not to the level of your screenshot.

Maybe one could add a second weapon with a couple of shot that track in skill shots so that they can deliver more consistent damage.

Or maybe make it as Airguards vet 1 ability (supressing)? Or like USF AI strafe (supressing and a bit of damage)

More commanders would be viable if they had SVT Cons upgrade instead of PPSh, that upgrade got power creeped into oblivion, 60 munitions and 2 CP for 3 PPSh with 10 DPS vs weapon drop at CP 1 giving Penals 6 14 DPS PPShs

Note that when i did the test, this was the limit at which the IL2 will track outside of what you would expect from the UI
I rechecked this couple of months before without much concern about how much further you could track and arrived at the same conclusions as you did.

Bad + bug = useless.
