Not seeing enough mention of the Puma. Destroys all light vehicles and can easily counter mediums if its supported and micro'd
Also get stuck on random pebbles and beaten to death by Jacksons, with zero chasing potential because piss poor on the move acc (unless they changed it)

Does the nearly doubly expensive before accounting for tech costs Jackson fall under tight or medium tanks? Asking for a friend?
I've killed every single allied vehicle with a micored and supported puma so the player you quited's statement holds true. It's vet 1 locks turrets on turreted vehicles, stuns assault guns and engine damages lights for the love of God (not to mention forces crew weapon s to pack up and redeploy)
Its the ultimate support vehicle of you have what it takes to micro it. Avoid pebbles for best results (cause there is no way in hell it is getting heavy crush)

Ofc it the Jackson cost more, but by god it has all the advantages associated with a TD with nearly no disadvantage.
SU-85, Stug, JpzIV - Turretless is enough of a disadvantage
M10 - Turreted but somewhat "weak" (since 80 fuel TD)
Firefly - Turreted but turret rotates slowly, not awfully fast either and on the move acc is quite poor
Jackson - Good range, exceptional speed, fast rotating turret, good on the move acc, good penetration - Pretty much the perfect TD
Puma (included since "technically a TD anyway") - Good range, exception speed but no crush so pebbles can fuck you, kinda poor turret traverse and poor on the move acc. Cheapest and available earliest
SU-76 - "its something )))"

You won't find me defending the Jackson in its current state but that doesn't mean that the cheap TDs need more, that's how we get power creep.

The JPIV needs a penetration buff. It's nowhere near SU 85, Firefly or Jackson, and is a big part why it's a forgotten unit. Big problem is OKW units having a huge price tag but performing very badly compared to their counterparts
it's a good unit. It's just forgotten because the Panther is idiot proof whereas a casemate TD requires more micro to an extent.

It is the worst out of the ones mentioned. It has a penetration of 170, which is laughably low for a turretless T4 tank destroyer. It also cannot spot for itself and is very immobile. Only the Stug is worse, but much less expensive, and I guess the Panther with it's laughable fire rate.

If I had to guess, giving sturmpios the ability to get double shreks would go a long ways and buffing rakettens in a slight but meaningful way is a good idea.
Remember people talking about mid or late game OKW isnt really an issue here, its early to mid game where it isnt quite right.
totally fair post @balanced_gamer

And it won't get it as long as panther exists.
JP4 is SU-76 of OKW, not SU-85.

No, JP4 is JP4 of OKW. It has no parallels to SU 76. Unless we are now looking forward to a price decrease of JP4 as well as huge buffs to the Panthers main gun to put it in line with SU 85 effectiveness :^)

Jo4=su76 in the sense that it's job is medium armour jot heavy armour. All allied mediums have 160 armour. That means the JP4 will ALWAYS pen them, even at 60 range. The panther is there for heavy armour like the su85 is supposed to be for the Soviet.
The units are different but the roles are the same.
Use the JP4 for what it's designed and you will find it a lot more effective.
You use a hammer to drive a nail, not a collander.

Ok so when can we expect the JP 4 to cost as much as a SU 76, and a Panther to have a gun like the SU 85, as well as self spotting, as well as a lower price?

It does have a parallel of being in a faction with multiple TDs(3, which is most stock TDs a faction can have) and another parallel of not being top tier TD aka not being designed to stand up to heavies.
It does perfect job disposing of mediums, which is its main job.

Play Soviet if that's what you want. If you can't fathom the design philosophy behind asymmetry in balance perhaps there is another, less complex game for you. The JP4 is designed for medium armour. Your refusal to understand it nor your whining that it's not as good as a TD designed to fight heavy armour won't change that. I look forward to your thread about the ost sniper not being as good against the is-2 as the brit sniper is against a Kuble given your apparent understanding of the game.

When the SU85 can camo and bounce mediums' main guns almost consistently and when the SU85 has the armor, speed, health, and turret of the panther, that's when.

Having to bring big hammer and a small hammer to a job is worse than having one hammer fits all though.
Also dont all the allied TDs always pen Axis mediums?
