Help me decide what commander to purchase please.

Hi,

There's a sale right now on Steam on commanders and I'm thinking of getting 2-3 commanders. Can you guys help me decide if I should get the Encirclement Doctrine Commander for Ostheer or Scavenge Doctrine for OKW?

Which one is better and why?

It depends on which mode you play.

For all modes:
Spearhead Doctrine
Lightning War Doctrine

For 1v1:
Mechanized Assault Doctrine
Osttruppen Doctrine

For 2v2 and up:
Encirclement Doctrine
Fortified Armor Doctrine

To the rest of the community, please correct me if I am wrong.

Not to be a jerk, but on sale, combined they should be like $4. Why not buy them both and use the ones you like more?

Encirclement Doctrine is pretty fun. The Close The Pocket ability is very unique and powerful. But it is very hard to use effectively. Wouldn't recommend this commander unless you are pretty good at the game and looking for a completely new way of playing Ostheer.

Scavenge Doctrine is not bad, but it's not very meta either. Jaeger Light Infantry are very good, but the other doctrine (Overwatch) they come in is arguably better. The rest of the doctrine isn't bad but isn't very good either. Most of it is built around the Ostwind, but currently that unit isn't very good. I would suggest to purchase this commander at a later time if the Ostwind is ever buffed.

So TLDR I would opt for other choices if there are any others you haven't bought yet. If not, Encirclement would be my choice over Scavenge. I had a lot of fun trying to get some good Close The Pocket abilities off. If so, let us know what other choices you'd have and we can make a recommendation.
