It is the workhorse of the Soviet armies and it is a doctrinal tank. Not only that, it is over priced at a staggering 720mp/260 fuel and it has the rate of fire of a snail.

I've been waiting for them to change this tank since launch. I was hoping it would get worked over with the tiger and is2 but the poor thing was skipped over.

i don't like how the t34/85s are right now they are too frustrating to use because they fire sooo slow. slow firing guns that doesn't have much penetration and that's pretty unacceptable for frontline medium tanks. you just watch and wait every 8+ seconds when every round is fired.

they should have same HP as t34, but their guns should shoot faster at 6 seconds or the same rate as the panzer IV and have 170 penetration. that way they will be able to duke it out with panzer IVs since both tanks can penetrate each other 100 pct. the t34/85s should also be much cheaper at 320 manpower and 115 fuel per tank.

depends on how they arrive. If they get rid of the dopey 2 tank call-ins and make the t34/85 either an upgrade, buildable unit, or able to be called in individually I dont think giving the soviets an equivalent to a p4 is good for the meta.

An interesting choice for this tank might be to increase its anti-tank ability while decreasing its AI ability when the 85mm gun is installed. That way both t-34 variants will have a purpose and the t34-85 isnt just the no brainer choice over a /76. It could build from the t4 building, or be an upgrade on the t-34 enabled by the construction of the tier4 building lets say.

T70 - fast anti infantry
T-34/76 - fast anti infantry, light anti armor
T-34/85 - fast anti tank, light anti infantry
Su85 - tank destroyer
Su76 - anti infantry, buildings, support teams, light anti armor

The t-34 fills the role of a "glass cannon". Its speedy and has nice ganky dps, but shouldnt go toe to toe with a panther or even a p4 solo and expect to win.

That probably won´t happen. I remember the developers mentioning in their stream regarding the previous patch (the one that nerfed MG42s and buffed IS-2s) that they did not intend to make T-34/85s non doctrinal or purchasable as a single unit.

No, it would not ruin the Meta, but enhance it. As far as I'm concerned the t34/85 should be able to take on the German t3 reliably. Ofcourse it shouldn't beable to fight panthers and tigers head on. All that is needed a price reduction to 420mp and 120fuel for one tank and the rate of fire equivalent to that of a mark4.

even though they may sound good but not in this circumstance, because t34/85s are doctrinal units you won't get them every game. if you have access to them it should be a no brainier to use them. if the player goes to t4 the two tanks would be very effective, because the t3485s would be the standard tank while the su85 takes out the enemy tanks. i think the t3485 should be a decent AT weapon without diminishing the anti infantry, because for the same price the panzer IV does good against both infantry and tanks.

T-34/85 is arguably the shitest Tank since alpha test, perhaps the pre-buff JS-2 can compete with that title

I'd argue that Stug is...

But aside from that, I'd have suggested a completely different implementation of T34/85, as an upgun option, rather than a bundled call-in.

T-34/85s are quite disappointing I agree. I think they should be turreted anti-tank units much in the same way panthers are. The way they are now, they don't seem to have a purpose.

It's sort of ironic that the commander with T-34/85s is arguably the best soviet commander on his other abilities alone. Buffing the 85 will only make him better.

It's sort of a difficult balance decision.

Yeah but I don't think having a unit be crap and justify it being that way due to other facets of the commander is fair. My top 3 favourite commanders includes the less popular Soviet Armoured Assault Tactics. Currently when I use this doctrine I always go for T2-T3 then IS2, to supplement brute force AP/AT needs. I never get the T34/85's currently as they do nothing that an IS2 or 3 T34/76's cant do anyway.

I would really enjoy going T2-T4 then T34/85 to give me some highly mobile AP/AT power for the SU-85's, however I feel its harder to do than the prior option.

Could really see positive outcomes for this unit in many manners as you guys have stated, whether it be in the form of cheaper cost, increased AT strength or even making them upgunned versions like the Shermans of CoH1.

Why not let the T-34/85 be a non-doctrinal upgrade from the T3 building for say, 200MP/60F, then replace the T-34/85s in the doctrines which have them with the KV-1? That way the KV1 won't be a premium-only unit which people complain about, the T-34/85 would be seen more often as befits its main-line tank status in life, and the game would include fuel-based upgrades which gives players more choices.

I think Relic is against fuel based global upgrades. I do miss them though :(

My suggestion is a per unit muni upgrade for T34s to 85 maingun @ around 100 muni, leaving other stats as they are in T34.

Whether that is Commander based or not, I leave to discretion of Devs and more experienced players.

A a decent non-doctrinal tank would give the Soviet player more tactical options, other than SU-85's...

I Always liked idea of having T3 building upgrade to T-34/85, it would be costly investment, but price of upgraded T34's would be same like older model and all T-34s on field would be up-gunned instantly like CoH Sherman gun turret upgrade... I think that would be the best solution :).

Double T34 call-in still would had some advantages because you can field them instantly and You don't need buy Tier 3 + gun upgrade to produce them...
