I think the comet tank is due for a buff.

I still use comets simply because they're more mobile than Churchills, and the utility you gain with Hammer with gammon bombs is invaluable vs. OKW (150 ammo to destroy any building).

Cromwell smoke+Gammon bombs+HQ artillery... I lost my OKW T3 several times to this combination... And I haven't figured out a way to counter it yet...

Its a good play. Maybe mines around it?

I'd say just increase moving accuracy and call it the day. I use it sometimes, it does require some micro, but at higher vets it's very good.

My two cents for a Comet buff:

1. The Comet's low accuracy on the move is a poor feature for how this unit is intended to perform. It relies on speed and flanking maneuvers in order to be effective and right now its very bad at pulling this off due to it missing too many shots on the move.

2. Buff the hull/co-ax mgs to at least be on par with the panther. The comet has lower inf DPS than the panther even without its pintle MG upgrade. With the pintle upgrade, the panther is notably superior, despite the Comet's better aoe (main gun misses a great deal of the time so not actually effective).

3. Comet has miserable vet that does not make it more lethal/survivable. It's a suicidal choice for team games where panther spam buildup is an ever growing concern.
Any role that the Comet might perform is performed better by specialist units that actually scale better as the game goes on. I would suggest either a reload buff or bouns health at vet2/vet3 so that Comet can survive that extra hit like the panther does right out the gate. That extra 160 HP makes a world of difference for survivability.

It is the only medium+ tank in the whole game which doesn't get reload bonus.
It has THE worst vet out of all vehicles in coh2.

The tank should from the start have been the opposite of the beefy churchill, meaning it should have been a fast, hardhitting but vulnerable tank.

So, improve the gun, in particular it needs more penitration.

Lower the frontal armour value so that the stug and other Axis TD's can become a soft counter to it.

That way as brits you have to trade the churchills high health and armour values for the speed and firepower of the Comet. Each excelling where the other is deficent. Thus creating a genuine choice for brit tech in the late game.

Whatever happens the Cancer shells probably need to be changed or removed.

IIRC valentine’s is even worse. I think it’s literally just more maneuverability and faster turret rotation (lmao).

That’s a pretty interesting idea. Its main gun dps would probably have to go up too to avoid it getting facerolled by panthers though.

Or maaaaaybe it is intended for it to get facerolled by Panther in prolonged face-to-face brawling and you should use it together with PIATs, AT gun or Firefly.

Comet should be T-34-85 with tea flavor.

By tea flavoured you mean side teching and higher cost?

Think I'll pass.

Side teching that gives it sight after it hits an enemy, and blitz (and slight up satchels but we don't talk about those). What they mean, I think, is that it should be an overgrown cromwell in the way that the t34-85 is an overgrown 76mm and to a lesser level the way the tiger is a much bigger p4. I don't think that the comet should be a brit panther, but a slightly heavier cromwell might be good

Let's be honest here considering the only other faction that lacks late game rocket arty (USF) get vehicle crews these "perks" are pretty poor in comparison.

I think a nerfed armour comet redesigned with better AI like the 85 could work, but it would need to be cheap. Otherwise people would just continue to ignore the tier when anvil exists and gives you a beefy AI tank with OKW repair speeds.

I'm in favour of some form of hammer rebalancing personally (as well as comet vet buff) because right now no one picks it over anvil. If it was worth the tech for the abilities you would see people upgrading after building medium tanks... But noone does that, top players just go for anvil and much needed repair.

Nerfed comet into 85 role and land mattress in hammer could work well too I think, definitely an idea for a balance mod. Cutting out all these weird, leftover nerfed abilities (glitchy WP shell, tank nades) and giving UKF actual tools like rocket arty and tanks that scale with veterency. If of course you pay the premium and lock yourself out of repair and a heavy...

Other than the 5 man upgrade those are borderline reasons to BUFF the UKF. The emplacements and 25pdr are awful novelties that weigh down the faction.

But the KT needs a buff? Almost everyone agrees on that.

I'm confused as to the point you are trying to make.

His point is that extra features/units cannot weight down a faction, so long as the features themselves are not a detriment (think OKW's old resource penalty when I say detriment).

For example, adding a 500 manpower, 1 model unit armed with a combat engineer mosin would not make a faction worse. You would simply just not use that unit.

Emplacements like the mortar are worse than normal weapon teams, I think the only player that wants this cheese in the game are mid level players like stuve that know how to abuse game mechanics.

Let's keep the discussion about late tier tech here and comet, as perks go stuff like war speed is meh, if it was magic panzer tactician smoke people might actually pay 50f to get that and spotting on tank pen.

Do you have any suggestions for changes to hammer to make it actually used in the game? Or are we just going to complain about how supposedly OP five man Tommies are vs volks and Jaegers.

i said it 3 pages ago, try a 0.4 reload buff to comet at base for start, and if needed add 20% to vet 2

Comet tanks are bad, until you get 2, then when you land 3 of them in the battlefield the game its over for your enemies and anyone in the server...
It reminds me of apocalypse tank of RA2. Simple mass them and stop the crap out of them...
Thats why its awful, because it CAN be spammed. It SHOULDNT be spammed, but thats not how this works, thats not how any of this works...
with regards 1v1 everyone agrees churchill does fit the bill, so i dont see the reason of OP complaints...
