This is a short one. From a match played yesterday.
How on earth do you explain a single squad of commandos withe their SMG being able to damage almost half of a 251 "Armored" HalftTrack Hp? Is this intentional? Is this Madness? Is this sparta?
Now really, I dont know the stats but how is this supposed to be correct nor balanced, an specialist AI dealing that much dmg to LV's

SMGs and assault rifles deal good damage to lightly armored vehicles, because of rate of fire and massive accuracy against vehicles.
Its like that since CoH1.
Even pios will rip scout car apart if they approach it from behind.

It is purely a "DPS" thing.
Bolt actions might hit you once every 2 seconds for 10 damage each hit.
SMG might hit you 30 times every 1 second for 3 damage each hit.
Obviously SMGs have really shitty power at longer distances tho.
(Shock troops are probably the best anti vehicle unit )))) )

( edited: oups sorry though my mistake though you where talking about the 221)
The 251 has 320 HP and 9/4.5 armor, commandos should prose a thread only if they attack the rear/side armor. (although the m20 has more armor)

Give it more armor and 251-flamer-base-dive will be too stronk (the base HMG will not damage 251 much).

Its as simple as downgrading its armor when a 251 gets flame upgrade.
Also I need to point out, why the heck would you want to kill a flame251 with small arms fires? Its like giving it free food, ffs. HMgs and high calliber rounds should pen, but not an smg, isnt it?

Small arms can be the difference between it running off or dying, it may be worth to throw a few models for it.

Since vehicles have huge target sizes, weapons with low accuracy are relatively very good against them. Pretty much all engineers fit that, actually (not Sturms or Assault Engies, but including REs)
It would make sense from a realism perspective for SMGs to have lower penetration values than rifles, but that would require more stat tweaks to not impact performance vs. infantry.
From the numbers, it looks like 5 commandos would deal 11.63 DPS to a 251 from the front, which means it would take 27.5 seconds for them to kill it. Double that from behind for 13.75 seconds, which is faster than I would have thought.
