Mechanized Assault broken ?

So I started playing 1 vs 1 recently again and faced an OST player who did the following :
Assggrens(around 4-5 squads) into Sdkfz 250 with Pzgrens into Stug III E. supported with Pak 40 into Tiger I. I stood no chance, when he got the Tiger I I just got my first T 34/76 out. I was pretty much impressed by this and decided to dig the Mechanized Assault Doctrine out of the Trashbin (didn't like it that much before) and try my own version of this tactic(which doesn't need any upgrades except to T2 (to get access to nades) and maybe T1 for building one Gren sqaud to counter light vehicles). So far I only have lost one battle (out of 4 or 5?) with this tactic and to be honest It kinda feels broken. You start with Assgrens to counter Infantry then you go Pzgrens with Schrecks to counter light vehicles, then you go Stug III E. to counter infantry and finally the Tiger I. to finish your enemy. I mean ... sure once your Tiger I gets destroyed its most likly GG because you have no other real tanks on the field but it still is a bit broke in my opinion(even in 2 vs 2 where Assgrens can be combined with Osttruppen).

In my opinion Assgrens should be moved to 1 CP in order to prevent an early spam of them.
If someone thinks that this commander is fine then I would like to hear the reason why because after all 5(or 4) matches don't say that much.

It is nice to have callin vehicles and to a certain extend callin units as you can save lots of mp and some fuel by doing so. The problems in this doc or general speaking with this kind of strats are that you are predictable and the strat might get countered by simply countering every single unit and always closely watching the vps.

CaptainSPrice for example did some excessive hmg spam while playing really defensively to counter callin strats. This strat might be boring to play but counters callin strats as there is a low amount of damage that can get done by either player, this way callins come way too late to be effective.

Assgrens can get countered by any allied unit on long range otherwise by a few specialists if needed (rangers, paratroopers commandos or even a single schock squad). The biggest problem using assgrens is usually the low amount of faust platforms so you can go mad on ultra light and light vehicles.

If you want to test around with that commander you could add me for some games i play only few 1v1s but i have some experience on that commander.

It doesn't work at higher levels. All your opponent has to do is go for a team weapon build with light vehicle support and you're screwed. Assgren spam can't fight infantry in green cover backed up by MGs. Your only vehicular AT until the Tiger is a 250 with Panzerschrecks in it and you have no snares so light vehicles are going to bully you.

Unless you've already won by that point they know the Tiger is coming and they've got plenty of time to bring out the tools to fight it.

1v1 is probably the only game mode that it still works in, so if you nerf the doctrine further, it will be completely useless. Like you said, you JUST started playing 1v1 in some time. So the problem is simply that you need a bit more practice and to adapt to the circumstances since the ost player is likely going to deviate from the 1mg 3,4 gren build. Mech works on only a few maps, lost glider, semiosky and the 2 kholodnys.

basically non doc should deal with this commander no problem. against assgren you just need to drop 2-3 models then retreat dont let them bleed you that way he'll lose himself a game

you can hardcounter them by light vehicle like T-70 because since they go for pure assgren then they got no snare. if i encounter this myself i will just click IS2 commander then build double t-70 dont tech for tier 4 tho just wait for the IS2 but believe me the game should end eariler with t-70

Assgrens are horrible. The only way pretty much any unit can be beaten by assgrens is to stand still in no cover and let them dry hump u and not shoot at them.

A horrible tactic, but it works when you face an unexpected opponent on smaller close range city maps.

Assgrens truly horrible now, as they can not even level up buildings anymore. Close range dps is ok but even with vet they are pretty lackluster.

Ass Grens are cost inefficient and dont scale at all. Sit your cons/penals in cover at long range. Unless your unlucky as hell they have a good chance of winning or trading favorably. t1 hard counters ass gren spam since the scout car and penals destroy ass grens early. Also the halftrack with shreks is a big muni investment but you can just snare it then kit it down shouldnt be able to shut down good t70 play at all. Stug 3 sucks since they changed it from a wipe machine. Make sure to go t70 into mechanized because the t70 will eat up his infantry since they dont have snares.

If he gets a tiger before ur medium then you fucked up.

Similarly your infantry outscales ass grens therefore the longer the game goes the worse they get.

I made to top 10, I got wreck by the ass grens strategy once on the map of the road to krovokve recently. The strategy is so cheesy, one ass grens supported with 2 mg and rush your cut off. And rush 222. Unless you previously play against the player before, the strategy sometimes caught me in surprise. Since I don't build m3 vs ost, by the time I realize what is going on and build m3 , his 222 was coming. Really cheesy strad sometimes.

You say it yourself that this tactic only worked because it caught you by surprise. To me that is evidence that it's a good strategy rather than a broken one. It's risk-reward, and when it pays off it doesn't instantly mean its broken or OP. Move on.
