Easy Eight. They gave Mechanized the M4C for variety. It could easily have been the E8 instead.

It got more armor and more health, is more forgiving and equally competitive against armored targets.
The 76 one seems to be a bad joke on the modders part if you ask me.

Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

Yeah, the 76MM mechanized Sherman is way overpriced. It only has 10 more penetration compared to stock Sherman AT Rounds and you can't use HE shells. Meanwhile EZ8 has much better stats for trading blows with Axis mediums for only 5 fuel more. That being said the 76MM has a godly rate of fire at Vet 3 w/ Radio net but it's not worth it.

Stats please? I would be interested to see the statistical differences between the standard M4A3, the M4A3(76), the M4A3E8 (Easy Eight), the M4C (from lend-lease commander) and the Wehrmacht Panzer IV as a control.

People don't realize how good the E8 is now with all the TD nerfs. They are hands down the best medium tank in the game.
Eh, debatable. It's the best brawler-flanker medium in the game if you need to shut down your opponent's medium armor and threaten dives against heavy armor but it's AI is pretty garbage. You definitely need to have supporting AI to make it fully worthwhile.

Excuse me for disrupting your conversation, but is'nt it THE MAIN IDEA of every American set-up?
I mean, they got both decent infantry and armor, but you can't just spam one or another, like soviets do. You cant go fully armor, as Germans tend to do
Instead you have God-Almighty "coordination" beetwen both kinds of your units, which turns them into soviet manwave+german panzerwaffe at the same time.

E8 is much much better than 76 mm gun standar shemran . E8 is my favourite tank in the game but some revamps at the commander wouldnt hurt

I was under the impression that the 76 had a faster reload speed, I'm not too sure on where unit stats sit right now.

It's AI is still better than Ost p4. Besides USF has plenty of AI with their riflemen.

Ah. Thanks for the link.
Anyhow, if I'm reading this right, then the 76mm Sherman shaves about 2 seconds off the reload time compared to the Easy Eight. You lose a bit of penetration, durability and moving accuracy as well as a few other things, but I think the sustained firepower makes them both viable for different reasons.

Thats the only advantage the 76 has over the EZ8. It has a monster reload rate of 2.5ish seconds when vet 3 and that's w/o radio net. Everything else, armor, penetration, HP and scatter all go in favor of the EZ8.

I'd say easy eight is one of the best mediums, after panthers. Still gets eaten up by stugs, tho.

Upgunned Shermans are a bit pricey but they are fun to use, their reload speed and radio net can lay down a wall of fire, Mechanized has interesting things while Rifle Co is often picked for RE flamers and it gives you a better Sherman for the lategame.
Both co-exist just fine as niche commanders to round up your rooster.
