Make Ostheer Sniper work!

Hey guys

Ive been trying to make the Ostheer sniper a good competitor in 1v1 games. However i do have some trouble figuring out the best way to use him and getting him to survive long. I had a couple games where my micro was just bad and i got 1 shotted basically. Which bring me to another point, the Ostheer sniper seems so damn weak!! But thats not the point of the post.

Any1 have any decent build orders that include ostheer sniper. I cringe when i wait till 360mp to get that sniper when i could get an MG or another gren squad, we really need those squads as german. I usually go Gren+Gren+Sniper or Gren+Sniper+MG. But i feel like i dont get enough of the map while the sniper is coming out.

Thoughts? Input?

They aren't really worth getting unless your opponent is fielding elite infantry, (i.e. guards and shock troops) so perhaps wait a while to get them. Also soviet T1 can make early OST sniper play very sketchy...

In regards to health of sniper, it does indeed have less than a standard model (40hp rather than 80hp) but does have good armour. This means that sometimes he dies very quickly to small arms fire and other times he can take a fair bit of heat. Indirect fire though is very potent against it so keep him on the move

Well, my suggestion is: do not use the sniper. Even if your micro is good and you can kill some enemies, the enemy's squads are too big to create caos in their ranks.
Basically the sniper is useful to aim at the Machine Guns and force them to retreat, then you can destroy the enemy infantry with your men. That is a good strategy with russians, 'cause the germans have just 4 men per squad and after two shots the possibility to loose the entire team forces the player to retreat his MG.
Against a russian player you have no good reasons to use the sniper. His squads are huge and they can easily spam clown cars with flames and hunt down your sniper.

My personal conclusion is: the sniper is a waste of MP.
