So basically DoW3 nodes.

Or like Oil derricks, black markets, supply depots or ore mines of C&C and gold mines of Warcraft. Pretty much what one would expect from devs who want to stand on the shoulders of previous great RTS where resource nodes and their harassment are a fundamental game mechanic.

The only difference with DoW3 was that one had no idea how they in theory generated income. Oil wells and ore mines are pretty self explanatory and the buildings had actual animations to reflect their mechanics. Instead DoW3 offers Immersive Yellow, Blue Or Purple hue and income that suddenly goes up at some point when the match has gone on for a certain amount of time. The resource income upgrade names and descriptions were also very in-depth like Income Level 1, 2 and 3 :snfPeter:

Mhm, even the basic infantry's going to distinctly different in range effectiveness eh? I definitely didn't expect that since, well, anyone here looking at this is looking into Iron Harvest for being similar to CoH.

Alpha 1 available (~1,4 GB). If your backed the game on Kickstarter ($55 and more) or preordered it on the official site, go to https://kingart-games.com/library ("My Account" -> "My Library")to get you Steam key and then add it to your Steam account.

I only had time for a single skirmish match but considering this is early alpha I was very impressed.

Naturally the UI feels a bit clunky but there is a coh'esque familiarity to it which is nice. The cover system feels good and intuitive and I liked the unit role swapping based on salvaged equipment. Dynamic cover creation seemed to work similarly to CoH, vehicle wrecks providing green cover and so forth.

The mech animations will definitely be one of the highlights of this game.

Audio will also play a key role in making the bigger mechs seem more menacing and I hope the devs will spend enough resources on the audio side of things.

The maps featured in alpha are vivid and have had a warm colour palette used in their design and I think that made them look very appealing. (I never liked the gloomy maps in coh so it's naturally personal preference :p )

I have high hopes for this game especially now that I've seen how much the devs have already created and if I recall correctly there is over a year left before release so I hope we see plenty of test phases down the road :romeoHype:

They say they're getting a publisher that'll be hands-off now too? Everything's sounds great now then - just have to finish making a good game.

https://kingart-games.com/article/57-iron-harvest-devblog-12-april-2019#info-publisher
Info: We have a Publisher!

Over a dozen publishers have voiced interest in publishing Iron Harvest. We spoke to everyone and entered negotiations with a handful. In the end, we have partnered with the publisher we think is the perfect fit for Iron Harvest: Deep Silver.

Deep Silver are mostly known for publishing the Metro, Saint's Row and Dead Island series. They've also proven that they can support crowdfunded games with such hits as Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Wasteland 2 and Pathfinder: Kingmaker.

We agreed with Deep Silver that KING Art will retain total creative control. Deep Silver have also committed themselves to help with things like production, first party relations e.g. so we can concentrate to fulfill all of our promises towards you. With their support, more content, potentially more platforms and even a level editor are now on the horizon (see below).

We both agree that Iron Harvest is a great opportunity to make a mark on the RTS genre and to release something special. We’re super happy to have found a team that is so committed to the project!

Steampunk WW1 RTS Iron Harvest has been picked up by Deep Silver

Iron Harvest developer King Art Games has announced that the game now has a publisher: Deep Silver. In a post on its website announcing the news, the developer explains that it's fielded over a dozen offers from publishers, speaking to a few of them, but found the publisher behind crowdfunded games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Shenmue 3 and Pathfinder: Kingmaker to be the "perfect fit".

Iron Harvest, Crowdfunded game recently acquired by Deep Silver of Metro Exodus/Shenmue 3 infamy, is now refusing to say that they'll release the game on Steam for non-backers, citing that "no decision has been made"

Lol.... this same exact thing (to Steam or not to Steam) is happening in so many different games/franchises. I wonder if it will happen with COH as well.

What happens, happens.
But notice that blizzard/Microsoft are now releasing more games on Steam.

Steam's strenght is it's huge amount of players and great amount of support.

Epic may be cheaper, but it has nowhere the amount of players or support.

Epic wants to DESTROY Steam and replace it.
If EPIC wins, everyone loses.

Backers denied refunds over Shenmue III Epic Games Store exclusivity:

https://www.destructoid.com/backers-denied-refunds-over-shenmue-iii-epic-games-store-exclusivity-556998.phtml
"Thank you very much for contacting us," begins the official reply. "The launch was previously planned for distribution on Steam, however it was decided together with Deep Silver after much discussion that the Epic Games Store would be the best distribution platform option."
"Shenmue III will be distributed through the Epic Games Store and will require the Epic Games Store Client to activate. We apologize for the sudden change in platform, however, refunds will not be granted for this change. We thank you for your support and look forward to delivering the Shenmue experience fans everywhere have been waiting so long for."

Shenmue 3 is a 1-year Epic exclusive:

kickstarter will not intervene:

If you are in EU this is a legal violation and you can take them to court yourself, or join a class action lawsuit. There is a lot of discussion about this on Shenmue III Steam page. So I would suggest you go here if you want to contribute: https://steamcommunity.com/app/878670/discussions/0/

Man, the real loser is Kickstarter themselves. This was a bunch of people who have now realized they paid early for the priviledge of paying more and with no choice of platform. I very much doubt any of them will back other projects ever again.

ours
Kickstarter campaigns are based on faith. The more campaigns screw over people the less faith people will be able to put in future campaigns.

And as if there weren't enough Kickstarter messes already these guys and a few others further make things worse with going platform exclusive after the campaign finished.

The next games will have to start making hard promises for multi-platform or at least Steam support.
