Let's scale poor Conscripts!

Not all will agree, but still - conscripts today are worst mainline infantry in game. And as infantry only worse than them are engineers and osttrupens.

They have ridiuclously low rate of fire, very low and random accuracy, they eqiuped with worst grenades in game and you have almost nothing to make them better for late game, only veterancy and few doctrinal only (!) upgrades. It doesn't look right.

Im sure, that mainline infantry in CoH 2 should be your main power at all stages of game. That works with all other faction's infantries (maybe something same has Ostheer, but that's another topic). But for late you just don't want to use conscripts, you have to use doctrinal infantry (if you took doctrine with that infantry before).

That looks pretty same to vCoH case with riflemans. USF in vCoH was pretty similar to USSR and they had only 1 infantry squad in stock (riflemans) and few awesome doctrinal (rangers,paratroopers). But, no matter how awesome doctrinals were, riflemans also had a tool of scaling them to late - BaR upgrade. Pay 200 MP + 60 fuel and all your riflemans getting 2 BaRs. Simple and effective.

So, why not to make such upgrade for Conscripts in CoH 2? Make in T0 global upgrade, which will be unlocked with T3 or T4, maybe for same 200 MP + 60 Fuel or more (or for 200 ammo, for example), that will change their useless Mosins to more modern SVT-40. Isn't that strange, that main soviet infantry fights with very old Mosins, while criminals, cowards and other trash (Penals) getting new SVTs? I guess, soviet mainline deserve to have that too. Also, that upgrade may not change their weapons but only give 2 DP-28's to them, will buff them good to late too.

P.S. Something also should be done about Molotovs. I guess they need faster throwing speed. Of course, not so fast, as OKW's flame nade, but still...

conscript scaling is fine

volks scaling needs a gigantic, ballbreaking nerf. there's no excuse for their power curve being as oppressive as it is; overinvesting into cons will lose you games, volks transition for zero resource investment

Conscript is actually in good spot. Volk flame grenade is superior because of its higher cost(although side upgrade is needed to balance between both).

Conscript have no weapon upgrade because all of them have been put to commander, to prevent cheesy tactic such as Rapid Conscription + PTRS + IS-2.

The only unit that scale terribly is Penal, not conscript.

What if building T1 unlocked the nade package as well to give at least some sort of AT counter for going it and the Mol for T2. There is no incentive to build conscripts except to merge with team weapons and if no one is building masses of conscripts the upgrades are not attractive either for the cost.

I think the scaling is part of the issue but the other is the lack of stock weapon upgrades. They are the only mainline infantry that lacks it. I wouldn't mind PPSH but you can lock it behind T3 or even 4 so takes away the cheese factor every other faction currently has.

You could then leave the doctrine unchanged or drop the requirement for PPSH or the PTRS one CP to compensate or adjust them all to give T3485's which would make them useful if they wont add it stock.

It's like working for a big company where they are inefficient.

People will still bitch and moan even though it will never change because it feels good to air ideas and vent frustrations.

A case can be made that Conscripts are actually the best late game infantry. This is due to their large squad size; as more and more firepower comes onto the battlefield, especially more AoE weapons, the smaller sized squads are at increasing risk of loss to a single attack, or a few seconds inattention.

the conscript's main failing at late game is really their dps. They can't contribute any firepower, merely their lives.

the lack of any weapon upgrade really cripple the conscript late game. This is also why people spam maxim for the firepower instead.

Exactly it's like they don't cause any damage at all, honestly Osttruppen vet 3 are way more useful and even cheaper than Cons.

They could also put together the nade upgrades, I mean a soviet player has to spent 40 fuel to even make good use of their already weak basic infantry.

Because Cons are so bad people go for Maxims because otherwise they will most likely lose massive ground early on, especially against OKW, Cons just scale incredibly bad.

Citation needed. Especially given that there are still new commanders and an overhaul of the war spoils system yet to be released.

The Alpha may be over but that doesn't mean they'll be releasing the changes any time soon. Also, what new commanders?

There's at least one more Soviet T34 commander that's in the works (a few threads already on this). I think there's another too but I can't remember which faction.

Conscripts are not fine. They are very bad in dealing damage, specially in late. And no, they have nothing I need. AT nade is bad, Faust is 10 times better, anti-garrison nade is worst grenade in game, flare mines nobody use, really, cheap pirce should not be excuse of uselessness of unit, close combat is poor because of lowest rate of fire in game. So yes, Im still complaining.

Other options? Which are? Penals - unit with no purpouse, just a little better than Cons. And doctrinal infantry can't change mainlines.

Whilst I agree completely that Conscripts suck, so much of SU core units suck that at this point I just accept that SU "uniqueness" is their complete reliance on doctrines - not just for good viable tanks but also for mainline infantry (guards and jesus troops), using conscripts to merge to cut down on mp drain.

This may or may not be as Relic intended, but in all fairness doctrinal infantry can absolutely replace conscripts as mainline infantry for SU.
