I find it odd that (according to relic) the most defensive faction can't build cover while every other faction can (USFs have tank traps and doctrinal field defense).

The vibe I'm getting from the forums is that ostheer struggles alot due to their small squad sizes. Could this be something to help deal with this issue? It would prevent mgs from being killed frontally from blobs among other things.

Thoughts?

Edit: can a mod please correct my spelling for grenadier? For the title and question. Thanks.

A point entirely outside of the actual feasibility and necessity of your suggestion...wouldn't sitting in sandbags constantly just increase the odds of 4-mans getting one-shot when an AI-capable tank rolls in?

It would more likely hit the sandbags that the unit. Same thing applies for Tommie's. This is more for the infantry vs infantry matchup anyhow

Good risk vs. reward.

Early on, the sandbags could really help LMG grens (or normal grens) vs. other mainline stuff, while later on it would just be a useful ability to have. Voted replace bunker with sandbags; they are grenadiers, not pioneers.

I personally really wouldn't want to trade for it. The value of an MG bunker in just the right place at just the right time can't be understated, and it's nice having a reinforcing Grenadier build your base Medic bunker when you want it instead of needing a Pioneer back there.

Why not let Pioneers build sandbags? Means Grens cannot plop down cover wherever they go, but it would allow Ostheer to make their own defensive positions with the use of a specialist unit that won't be as in large numbers compared to Grenadiers.

I voted no. Wehr is already a very complete faction. No need to give wehr all the toys when they already have more than other factions.

Sure, the moment conscripts get LMGs after T3 is up and tommies get free AT nades out of the gate.

Not all armies are supposed to have all tools.

Why did you add so many useless options, that just creates confusion.

It would be better to just add the sandbags to the trenches in the commanders, so it doesnt gets too out of control

+1
If Ostheer gets green cover, it should go to the Pioneers.

Grenadiers have enough utility in their hands as it is.

If you want to compare them with the other LMG-capable unit (Tommies), you have to bear in mind that Tommies have absolutely no other utility in the game except for sitting behind green cover.

I understand that the major gripe is USF lolblobs. However, what do the Soviets get in return to uncamp a campy Ostheer player?

More than other faction? Tell me which things? And no, it isn't complete when it's most UP faction in the game.

Actually, if you take away AEC, the most UP faction are the brits.

Before the British forces release I would oppose this suggestion, but since Infantry Sections work in a similar way to Grenadiers, yet have a higher potential dps output thanks to 2x LMGs I personally don't see the reason why weaker grens shouldn't be allowed to build sandbags when Sections can.

I'm not sure if it would be fair. You could just spam sandbags with LMG grens standing behind them in green cover and having a PaK wall for tanks, good luck punching through that... Your only chance would be the CalliOP...

Though not many things in this game are fair so what the hell :D

Brits simcity would counter this pretty well, and USF pack howi and soviet mortars even. At least force you to move.

bunkers for cons when?

No.

OST doesn't need anything. They are a complete faction.
