Mortars should cause abandon on tanks with exposed crew

I think this would add a new and interesting dynamic to gameplay, and give mortars and other artillery more late game utility.

It would make the abandon feature much better than in its current state; I approve.

I would also like to add, why don't nades decrew open top tanks like the m36? It would add more flavor to the game if you have to watch out for grenadiers hiding in ambush. Who are about to pop a rifle grenade on an american tank destroyer and steal it.

also snipers who are put in tall buildings should be able to snipe opentop tanks. also i suggest that stunnades also apply to opentop tanks

i think greandes should although decrew them, but mortars are clearly a good idea
and it would finally make an end to m10s crushing infantry

No comments about mortars, but I once thought it would be cool idea for flamethrowers to be able to decrew vehicles. It would take 10-15 seconds and there would be this "heat meter" indicator similar to progress bar for scavenging and building stuff with engineer units. Might be hard to balance though, but it could be used as a guaranteed way to decrew instead of random abandon criticals.

Hmm, this could be good but only if the abandoned tank has a %50 chance of exploding when either player jumps in to the vehicle. That way, its fair, balanced, and ~ MY IMMERSION ~ is kept intact. :snfPeter:

You guys haven't grasped the idea that the abandon mechanic is already extremely toxic and you want mortars to decrew Jacksons and Ostwinds? Something that has no counter-play (it's a shell falling from the sky) that you can't predict the landing of, you want to now abandon your full health tank? In the middle of a fight it could be game changing.

This game needs less RNG immersion and focus on the less frustrating aspects of warfare to achieve it.

Thats bad idea to say the least, mortars definitely do not lack in usefulness at any stage of the game, if anything they increase theirs in late game, where positions are more established.

I don't see it as adding whole new strategic level to the game, I see it as adding whole new RNG to the game that affects mostly allies, is unneeded and allows 240 mp units to counter 300+mp 100+fu units.

Unless your goal is to take a steamy dump on the balance, then its a bad idea.

Abandoning is probably a bit extreme but some form of stun/equipment damage might be nice to at least make it somewhat of a risk to close approach infantry.

yeah mortars are totally unused rightnow, there should really be more use to them, i think abandoned is fair and logical. i mean honestly do you want to sit in an open topped tank when a mortar shell hits it? i doubt that.

Allied mortars would literally hard counter super heavy tanks then, those things can't dodge for shit. But be my guest, USF is the one true faction for me. #believe

This idea is as bad as having planes crashing planes randomly crashing into the battlefield. Each fight tells a different story.
