Which I still didn't expect. Like, that's lower than trash at AA.

It shoots down Recon and other attack aircraft.
Definitely true, still might be worth testing with other AA though. I'm pretty sure the M5 is about the only AA unit with penetration values not in the 10s aside from pintle MGs, right? (though I'm told AA is determined by a % to shoot-down per hit instead of actual health...but perhaps it still has to roll a penetrating hit to get that chance?)

The axis supply drop plane cannot be hot down, so the fact it doesn't come from the longest path is pretty much a non-issue.
So basically the plane is there because crates of resources appearing in a sector out of thin air would be too silly even for this game?

pretty much, yeah. I don't see why they bothered. The soviet supply drop comes in an IL2

While OKW get it by default in one of their main buildings, and that alone is enough to shoot it down

I mean jesus christ they could atleast make the flak cannon cost 100 munitions or whatever instead of being free with the building.

Actually, it kind of is as you're having much less time to react and possibly intercept, therefore mitigating counterplay.
Imagine the shitstorm we'd had if allied fuel drop came to sov base the same way, forcing axis player to actually have AA deep forward. And lets ignore OKW free, potent AA.

Actually, it kind of is as you're having much less time to react and possibly intercept, therefore mitigating counterplay.
Contrary to allied supply drop that happen with no warning, player has some control over flight path and can even avoid, in some cases, flying over the enemy held map completely, supply drop zones comes with warning and last allot more time with planes following the same path allowing easier positioning of AA assets...one simply has more time react to supply zone than supply drop...
Further more supply drop zone can be counter on the ground while it is virtually impossible to counter supply drop.
But this a actually thread about a bug and not balance so there is little point debating balance here since there is already a another thread http://www.coh2.org/guides/47110/resource-modification-in-coh2 . And it does seem the supply drop planes can not be shot down...

In WWII, only the USN VT fuse shells used in Pacific able to effectively drop down planes like flies, which was forbidden to use against German because they fear the German stealing this technology, meanwhile all others AA gun was just a joke.

Still dreaming of commander AA ability to "charge" figter for lets say 150 ammo which shoots down enme's planes. Somtetimes big wins like shooting down JU loiter, sotimes only recon. Once used, need 150ammo to charge again.
