Is this unit still in favour at all? I rarely ever see them nowadays. Does any one still use them? And how do you structure your build/commander choice to accommodate these fragile litte things?

Nope. Super high micro unit with very little pay off for the risk. At this point USF players know how to make due without indirect, or to compensate through doctrine.

Even when it was good before the nerf it didn't really fill in USF's indirect role very well and was usually ignored for easier to use units.

It could use either more range or durability.

it is overshadowed by the Sherman using HE shells. Comes too late to be of use.

When a indirect unit is getting outshined by a directt fire unit at it's role. That's a pretty big indicator something is screwy.

No, according to this.

I agree with Omega, range or durability are the way to go. It'll make it a decent counter to the Pak-43 which the US really needs since Relic is hell-bent on making the Major's arty utterly unusable.

400HP and it's fine.

A slight buff to hp to require three AT shots to take out or a slight accuracy/range buff or slight cost reduction. 45 more fuel gets you a sherman which is more durable, versatile (AP rounds), and arguably more devastating with HE shells. Oh and make the smoke barrage on low cool down as that is one great advantage of the Scott. Having a free smoke barrage for USF which is invaluable late game.

I'd say the M8 is inferior to the M4A3 Sherman at anti Infantry - it's got potential as anti blob but it's too high risk of getting caught out. In that regard it's anti-blob role is taken by M1919s - CalliOP's - M4 Bulls#!tdozers and White Phos barrage I.E. pretty much everything from every competitive doctrine save perhaps Heavy Cav... but I don't consider it a competitive Doctrine.

Suffice it to say it's not a very good unit. It's worse than all options. I think that I see it often when watching newer players play games and when high tier players are mucking around - but when it comes to tourneys and proper games then no. I never see it in use.

M8A1 is great at its intended role but utterly unusable due to its 320 health. Increase it to 400 health and this unit will be used a LOT more I think.

The M8 needs a little more than just HP. I don't have the numbers in front of me atm but the AoE profile or accuracy on the Scott feels atrociously bad. I've watched M8s fire multiple shots at stationary squads without hitting once far too often to believe it is just bad RNG.

I would lower its ludicrous 80 second build-time and make its AOE taper off less. No increase in OHK radius, but so it still deals damage even when it doesn't land directly into the lap of the enemy.

The scotts AOE or overall damage feels very poor. As Cabreza points out it cant hit even the largest of blobs and even when it does its damage is minimal at best.

Remove the scott because its bad (basically a waste of fuel for a mobile pack Howie, in t4 non the less)

and just give usf a non doctrinal artillery piece they deserve like the 155 mm Gun Motor Carriage M12

it need 400 hp first of all. 320 make it vulnerable to OHK from the doom cannon on the pak43/elefant/JT

Id love if pack howie was buffed MASSIVELY, put in M8A1s place, and a 60mm light mortar replaced current Howie.

Make M8A1 a 120 muni upgrade for the Stuart.

I would advocate the removal of the unit all together and replace with a proper indirect arty unit.

When I play larger team games I often find myself forcibly building Arty and so I pick a doctrine for it, why?

The okw will blob, the Wer will turtle and hide behind a wall of paks and MGs, goin any other doctrine will place unnecessary restraints on me.

Lets get a real support unit in.

I'm not entirely opposed, It would add some utility mid and late game.

could swap it with the Priest.

Then buff the M8, maybe give it different shells types etc and make it a call-in.
