Minor European axis nations could make for a faction.

Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria actually were a considerable force in the war and fought with Germany consistently.

Romania even had some Tigers and Panthers at their disposal and Hungary made some tanks of their own.

Imagine if they add all the "minor Allies" the Axis had, they would have so many different accents and different uniforms, atleast if there would be 1-3 units per country :S (their army would look like a circus with so many different uniforms, but it could be damn funny to see them in action)

Instead, we got a boring "meta map" with minimum interactions and zero challenge.

It could actually be pretty tough on Hard mode, if you wanted to do all the bonus objectives.

I've completed the game on hard mode like 3 times, but in comparison with Dark Crusade AA has nothing to offer.

It could work with the right weapon upgrades, since VET 3 Ostruppen with a LMG 42 are almost equal to Obersoldat DPS (with a LMG 34), but they would kinda look like Volksgrenadiers if you would give them Panzerschrecks and still have the ability to fire their Panzerfaust (But we would just have another unit that would get eaten alive by USF Bar blobs, since that is the biggest problem OKW has now)

Italy: So i'm not expert on the Italians apart from the fact that they had some pretty snazzy Carcano rifles but the better armaments were imported from abroad and that their tanks were not THE BEST but they could still back a punch. Of most interest was when I researched the The Fiat tanks and the Carro Armato P40. Not much is known about them but I think there is scope for some form of implementation and balance with light and medium tanks to stand up to the British, USF and Soviets.

I've been working on an Italian faction mod for a bit, and I think they're workable- in the same vein as USF and soviets, they can't exceed T3- level armor units. They have good variety of interesting light vehicles and a lot of elite infantry divisions (Folgore Paracadutisti, Bersaglieri, Guastatori assault engineers, Alpini) to fill out commanders.

No, no new faction.

The most practical and appealing solution to all Germany's minor allies (including Italy) is a sub-faction system for OST based on nationality that replaces a few core units with nation specific things.

Just as van Voort suggests :D

Awesome idea! Fantastic! Just one thing that you wrote wrong the Lieutenant which is not "tenete" but "teneNte", the rest is OK!:thumbsup::clap: also those fantastic images for units.
I made this idea for an italian army: http://community.companyofheroes.com/forum/company-of-heroes-2/wishlist/191180-italian-army-for-coh2-second-idea

This is Grittle's idea http://community.companyofheroes.com/forum/company-of-heroes-2/wishlist/196004-grittle-s-italian-front-axis-army-heeresgruppenkommando-idea-version-2

and also yours is fantastic!
Personally, i'd prefer mine but if the other ones are better, why not?:):)

SO, ON TOPIC:
I'd really love that CoH2 won't stop making new factions (also balancing), i think that the new factions should be Italy, France and Hungary instead of Finland but sincerely i don't know what to choose if Hungary of Finland because i'd prefer Hungary but also Finland is good so ... i don't know :)

About my idea if you read you see how it works and what would have the units but in that page there aren't some informations, you talked about the Carcano rifle, imported weapons? Yeah, germans sent to Italy some tanks like PzIV, StuGIII, 88mm FlaK and 7,5 cm kanon PL Vz37. But the italian army is plenty of weapons that these could be left aside (i made a german support commander to remind that great help the germans gave to italians).

So, infantry weapons:
- Carcano 91/38 is a bolt-action rifle, caliber 7,35mm (7,92 for karabiner, 7,62 for mosin, 7,7 for lee enfield), 6 shots, effective range: 1000m
- Beretta MAB38 is a SMG, caliber 9mm (9mm for MP40, 7,62 for PPSH41, 11,5mm for Thompson and 9mm for Sten), different rounds but the most used was 40 shots, effective range: 200mm
- Beretta M1934 is a pistol, caliber 9mm (9mm for Luger and 11,43 for Colt M1911), 7 shots, 50m range
- FNAB-43 is a SMG, caliber 9mm, 40 shots and range 400m
- Armaguerra M39 is a semi-auto rifle, 7,35mm caliber, 6 shots, range 300m

Then we have team weapons:
- Breda M37 HMG: 8mm caliber (7,92mm for MG42, 12,7mm for Browning, 7,62 for Maxim, 7,7mm for Vickers), 20 round strip, 2000m range
- Brixia Mortar: 45mm caliber, light mortar, range 500m
- 81mm Mortar: 81mm caliber, range 3100m with standard 3kg grenade, 1500mm with 6kg grenade

Artillery:
- the first number after the name "Cannone" shows the caliber
- Cannone 47/32 it's a 47mm cannon
- Cannone 75/32is a 75mm cannon
- Cannone 90/53 is a 90mm cannon
- Cannone 75/18 is a 75mm howitzer
- Cannone 149/40 is a 149mm howitzer

Vehicles:
- the FIAT AS42 has a Solothurn S-18/1000 AT rifle and a Breda M37 HMG
- the Autoblindo 43 has a 47mm AT gun
- the SPA dovunque 35 has a FIAT-Revelli M35 HMG similar to Breda M37

Tanks: (the number after the letter means the tons)
- L3/33 is a tankette, armed with 2 Breda M38 that are simply the Breda M37 mounted on vehicles
- L6/40 is a light tank armed with a 20mm autocannon and a Breda M38
- M15/42 is a light tank (even if in italian it's classified as medium) armed with a 47mm gun
- P26/40 is a medium tank (even if in italian it's classified as heavy) armed with a 75mm gun
- Semovente 75/18 is a SPG armed with a 75mm gun
- Semovente 90/53 is a SPG armed with a 90mm AT gun

So this is more or less the kind of weapons they have, also if you read you can read how it's organized, the units in the buildings, abilities, commanders and so on.

I'd like your feedback :D

new factions? there can be only Japs (more logic cuz it lasted longer in war than others) and Africa Corps (mix of Germans and Italians)

I doubt that Italians would get their sepparate army, they simply sucked in everything but infantry weapons

Italians could work as a new faction, if Relic can design around the lack of late game armour units that can go toe-to-toe with Tigers, Pershings, and IS-2s. The Semovente 90/53 would be their most powerful tank destroyer, but it's 90mm gun is comparable to the 88mm on the Tiger and FlaK36, not to the 88mm on the Elefant, PaK43, or Tiger II.

Italy makes far more sense if the timeline was pulled back to North Africa. Then the Semovente 90/53 as a late game unit would make perfect sense, and being stuck with M15/42's as your best tank wouldn't be an huge design problem to work around.

I still think a third German faction is the most likely choice for Relic /IF/ they decide to add a new Axis faction. There's still a TON of equipment and vehicles for Germany that could be used to populate a faction without ever having to touch obscure or prototype items.

Stuff we haven't seen yet in CoH2 for 1944 timeline...

Anti-tank guns: 3.7cm PaK36 (add the Stielgranate 41 as an upgrade), 5cm PaK38 (from CoH1), 8.8cm PaK43 (the actual PaK43, not the PaK43/41 we have in CoH2), 12.8cm PaK44
Anti-aircraft guns: 2cm Flakvierling38, 3.7cm FlaK43, 8.8cm FlaK36 (from CoH1), 8.8cm FlaK41, 10.5cm FlaK38 or 39
Mortars: 8cm GrW42, 12cm sGrW43, 10.5cm NbW35
Rocket Artillery: 15cm NbW41 (from CoH1), 21cm NbW42, 30cm NbW42, 28cm SW40
Artillery: 10.5cm LG40, 15cm sFH18
Support Guns: 7.5cm IG37, 7.5cm PaK50, 7.5cm LG40

Light Vehicles: BMW R75 with sidecar (from CoH1), Schwimmwagen (from CoH1 PE), Kfz 70 truck, RSO tractor, Kettenkrad (from CoH1 PE)
Assault Guns: StuG IV (from CoH1), StuH 42
Tank Destroyers: Marder II, Marder III Ausf.H or M (from CoH1 PE), Hornisse/Nashorn, Jagdpanther (from CoH1), 7.5cm PaK40 on RSO tractor
Tanks: Panzer III Ausf.L, M, or N, Aufklärungspanzer 38(t)
Armored Cars: Sd Kfz 231, Sd Kfz 234/1 (from CoH1) /3 or /4
Half-tracks: Sd Kfz 251/2 (mortar), Sd Kfz 251/7 (pioneer supplies), Sd Kfz 251/9 (7.5cm cannon), Sd Kfz 251/22 (7.5cm PaK40), Sd Kfz 250/8 (7.5cm cannon), Sd Kfz 250/9 (2cm, used for scouting)
Anti-aircraft Vehicles: Sd Kfz 10/4 or /4, Sd Kfz 7/1 or /2, Flakpanzer 38(t), Möbelwagen, Wirbelwind (from CoH1)
Artillery Vehicles: Wespe, Hummel (from CoH1), Grille Ausf.H or M
Specialist: Borgward IV, Sd Kfz 9 (as a recovery vehicle)

Sprinkle in a couple items from the other factions, like an MG34/MG42 and a medium tank, and you can easily make a new faction... or two! Need infantry? Still haven't seen Luftwaffe ground troops, Gebirgsjäger, Aufklärungs, Volkssturm (for cheap defensive militia), and nothing wrong with another variation on Grenadiers or Panzergrenadiers.
