It needs to be put on par with the priest IMO. I think I've seen one or two games where some unknowing noob made one and it was pretty irrelevant.

So it makes sense that the Sexton should be like a mobile LefH.

Valentine is also pretty sucky IMO (or at least overpriced for what it does). You're paying like an extra 40 fuel for marginally better AI and Spotting Ability compared to AEC? Meh.
EDIT: Valentine also comes in rather late CP wise (close enough to medium armor that it feels like a waste of fuel for the timing)

I've tried to use the valentine, just seems crap. I don't get what the point of it is, aside from the ability to fire sextons (which also suck and I would never build them again). Seems inferior to the T70, Stuart, Puma / Luchs & AEC (Anyone got stats to compare?).
I quite like the other 3 abilities in the doctrine, shame about the call ins.

If you use the flares. not only is it better than a recon run but it lasts quite a while and it allows your sexton to dish out some accurate fire thanks to the vision.
The valentine is basically an 80 fuel sight track that can defend itself and the sexton. Think about it. it has smoke to defend your sexton if you get rushed. the wallhack lets you see where his troops are worth bombing and the vet 1 ability lets you override the cooldown on sexton.
The 100 muni arty is amazing for the simple reason that you can call it down through the fog of war.
The only thing that's meh is the 12 cp sector arty to be honest.
This doctrine works best vs okw and going for comets with piats on sappers. piats are awesome btw.
Tl;dr sexton is pretty good with the doctrine's perks. OP munis and have fun.

It sounds good in theory but in practice I feel like this isn't practical to pull off unless you are already dominating your opponent. Sexton + Valentine is a lot of fuel that isn't going towards tanks and Piats are only worth a damn against slow heavies or if the other guy's vehicle micro sucks. Flares + Barrage is also a lot of Muni that you are flushing down the toilet for a wildly inaccurate 25 Pounder barrage or a weak Sexton barrage.
I will admit that this sounds worth trying if your opponent is being a lame OKW player who just turtles with a million ISGs or in large team games where you can have teammates screen you but in 1s or 2s... eeeeeh.

I would agree with you, except the howitzer fire isn't strong enough to really warrant the cost or effort. For your 100 munitions you only get three to six shells from a pair of relatively ineffective howitzers. The ability would be almost useless if not for the air burst shells from anvil tactics.
You get the same problem with the sexton, except fortunately you can drive the carriage close enough to provide somewhat accurate fire.
For a doctrine that's all about artillery, the artillery firepower provided is rather mild. I think you'd be better off just burning 100-130 MP on infantry section casualties running them up to things to throw the flare in person. You get to use the same howitzers, but for less than half the cost and twice the ordinance fired. You could choose a more useful doctrine and still make full use of your base howitzers with just a bit of extra effort and investment.

Pretty much.
The 100mu arty is the 45 mu arty the infantry can call in without a doctrine, except you can call it in through the FOW. It also has a very short cooldown. So basically you upgrade to Platoon Command Post (so you have both arty guns), upgrade to Anvil for the airburst, and then spam it on entrenched positions. It's very, very good and probably the best part of the doctrine.
Valentine is very useful, but you shouldn't use it like a battle tank. It's an armored version of the IR halftrack, nothing more or less. Use it to maphack where troop concentrations and tanks are headed so you can reposition MG and AT guns. If you see enemy sitting still, throw arty on him.
Sexton is absolute ass from max range. Up close its accuracy improves considerably. So you have to defend your line, know where enemy troops are, and move it as close as possible. In general it is bad, but it's not a total throwaway against turtles and OKW trucks.

arty with the uk is not designed kill but to harrass and stymie your opponent. it's meant to be your tool for buying time so you can get out churchills/comets/centaurs. That's why the base guns have huge scatter, small kill radius and long barrage time. it's also why you can basically attack during your own barrage and suffer no damge/casualties even if you get hit point blank
