Problem:
  • They are supposed to be good at the earlier stages of a match (which they already were so, oliberating grens, volks and in some scases even sturms) and medicore at the later phases. But after the recent patch you don't need to worry about their late game performance so building 4, 5 units does not have any drawbacks or risk. You will own the whole map and get enough fuel to build your fast light vehicles and start the abuse. And when grouped together there is no effective way of holding them off. 1vs1 you need to send your baseline inf to cap and gather resources, which is not possible when you know it's a losing engagement. With the bar buffs they are just downright silly.

Solutions:
  • Increase their moving penalty in order to discourage blob A-moving :
  • Moving accuracy multiplier could be changed from 0.6 to 0.42
  • Moving cooldown multiplier could be changed from 1.25 to 1.6

  • General stats changes to bring them closer to other starting inf:
Range distance could be changed from 3/16/35 to 5/12/35
Far accuracy could be changed from 0.5175 to 0.4175

  • More starting options and alternative build orders :
Add the m2 60mm Morty to HQ
Add the WC jeep to HQ
    Move the .50Cal to HQ

Why do they have to be mediocre late game?
They are the most expensive base starting infantry in the game, why can't they be good late game too?

Because you can't have your cake and eat it too, asymetrical balance. Also I'm here to stay and changed my mind. This one is far from being a rant or rage posting, I followed the basic guide lines , offered sensible solutions and looking for a calm environment to discuss the mentioned unit/playstyle (5RM into m20 into sherman)

And what you are doing is called internet bullying; shaming, stalking etc. Keep the discussion on topic.

How does this mean that riflemen should be weak late game?

I actually agree with OP on this one. The new Vet 3 Rifles are insane to deal with and remind me of the old vet 5 volks.

This was after using direct fire against them the entire game via the newly nerfed mortar.

This would be my last topic for a long time to come as I have been warned by a mod and so that trend won't continue, cheers.

They don't have to sweep the floor from the start of a match and down to the last VP.

given that they cost more, yes they do for everything that isn't a counter. grens and volks are not counters.

Why should cheaper infantry units beat them in a straight shoot-out?

Use a pair of mg42s, with one slightly behind and to the side of the other. For extra results use an mg bunker.

Rifles are still the same as they were in the early and mid game. They are more survivable in the lategame, but the same counters (mg42, ostwind, new panzerwerfer, etc.) All work against them.

This is how the Germans felt irl, just like how American tankers felt going up against Panthers.

Face the fact that Grens and Volks will lose ground to Riflemen. Try bleeding them with lmgs, mines, light arty, and elite infantry instead.

How many games could you possibly have played with and against USF late game to have an informed opinion? It may be the case they over-buffed the unit sure, time (and OCF) will tell. The amount of uninformed theorycraft on these forums is so annoying. 10 posts spamming this is OP or that needs a buff for every one discussing counter-play or tactics against something.

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to convey with this picture. It's just a bunch of vetted rifles and officers. Pretty standard build to be honest. Maybe a gif would have been more helpful.
