What to do with the MG34?

The cheapest MG in the game with a faction that is known for floating MP, I would say increase the cost to the .50 cal and buff damage. Done.


OKW doesn't float game early on were the MG34 really matters. And 280 MP for the worst suppression unit in the game!?

Suppression on it is decent for a 210 MP unit, especially after the universal MG buff I would say it's pretty decently cost effective.

Although if the cost was to be increased, I do actually think the suppression should be addressed
too.

I have never understood why the .50 has been the most expensive MG in the game.

It has the most DPS and suppression rivaling the MG42 while having a better set up time. The MG34 has the worst DPS profile of any thing in the game and the worst suppression of an MG. The fact it's cheap doesn't justify it being shit.

How do you vet something that needs to do damage to do so but actually deosn't do any damage?

That wouldn't be that bad if the mg would surpress something, but it doesn't, right now it's just a thing that doesn't surpress,doesn't do any damage and the only reason to justify that is because it's cheap. Ok, just increase it's cost to 240 and increase it's damage as well as it's surpression.

MG34 matters when infantry combat matters, which is early, mid and late game.

Also, there is nothing wrong with its suppression, its on pair for the cost with any other HMG.

If you want damage, use incendiary rounds.

That's what everyone's saying, it needs a cost increase and a performance increase, because it's cheap but it also sucks.

Due to the way grenades work with how you can throw them despite being suppressed there has to be a penalty for staying close to/in front of an MG for to long. That's why MG's have good killing power; the MG34 shouldn't be an exception to this.


If problem are nades, fix nades...


if nades are a problem to HMG, then fix all of them, not only MG-34.

I am not using much HMG 34 in my okw games even if it's cheap. I prefere to spend resources on something that actualy matters.
Meanwhile, I am not sure what kind of buff HMG 34 needs.

I think that instead changing supression, damage etc - which would make it too good for it's current price, Lelic could do something else to make it more appealing. Let's say improving its horizontal traverse, in order to make it more responsive, or / and lower setting up time.

Opinions?

I don't think it is supposed to do damage. You got your Sturm Pioneers for that early game and planty other units latter. The suppression is fine for its cost and I don't really think it needs tweaking but if it does it should come with the price increase. Moving it to HQ is a terrible idea. You have your Kubel there so learn how to use it or go specific commander if you want your MG. It has been done for balance reasons and it should stay this way. It's the similar issue to Conscripts not getting stock weapon upgrade (even if I want them to have one).

because everyone will always have access to mg34 every doctrine..oh wait...

This doesn't work at all. Because Sturms doesn't always = mg34 out.

It is a weapon, it should do damage. It is also a support weapon, it should supply support. Now it only makes noise, has almost no suppression and does no damage. So when squads are (by some miracle) actually suppressed, they can easily kill the mg34, like the USF blobs of doom do.

OKW is meant to be a hard hitting specialized infantry army backed by specialist supervehicles.


Yet they face Soviet and Riflemen hordes, they should have an mg that can actually keep huge blobs at bay and damage them if blobs are used. It pretty much fails at both.

Why have a doctrinal unit that has a MACHINEGUN, but don't let it do damage? It makes no sense. It makes even less sense when you factor in the current situation of the mg34, its suppression is shit.

The logic in this game is sometimes strange ...

LMG 34 = Best LMG in the game
HMG 34 = Worst HMG in the game

(i'am not asking at all for a up of HMG 34 in terms of damage, just pointing the absence of logic here )

That's not best idea, unless you change Kubel to something similar during alpha.
