OMG.

We are back to the standard Axis fanboi arguments:

"You can't have your toys because - Historical"

"Our toys are built to design spec and not history because - it's a game."

In all technicality both pershing and calliope were both confirmed before the Alpha even started.

As an reminder about VCOH history; the original Calliope did have a working main gun, but it also cost 125 muni per volley. The later Calliope had free arty but no working gun and no smoke.

Also the calliope, while long ranged, was not actually very effective at range. So to do some real damage you had to get in closer. In that sense a Hummel and Priest were much more effective. Farther firing yet still mobile.

FWIW, Pershings were key to the capture of the Ludendorf Bridge (in Remgen) by the 9th Armored. Their guns had the range to take out the MG positions in the bridge's defensive towers from the other side of the river making it possible for a company of American infantry to cross and secure the bridge.

As to the "historical" nature of COH, it isn't. If it was most US Sherman's would barely encounter Wehr armor greater than a StuG and their greatest danger would be from paks and fausts.

Also all German late model tanks would destroy allied mediums in one hit but have a chance of breaking down before reaching the battlefield (though still expensive) and a chance of breaking down or running out of fuel (abandoned) in mid battle. Volks would be more like ostruppen and would gain minimal veterancy, as would OKW veterans (how much more veterancy can a veteran gain?). And US would have some button that they can push in the right situation and blow the whole enemy position to pieces with arty or an airstrike.

Which is my point about ANY "hostorical" argument. By late 1944 the allies were advancing about as fast as logistics, natural obstacles and weather would allow. There were no successful operational defenses after the first few weeks of Normandy. (Well, Market Garden. But the British did advance all the way to Arnhem, and despite all the misconceived parts of the operation, and held the bridge for the required days, just no longer.)

I'm agree with the fact that USF is better as a medium tank army ( even though the Pershing is, in fact, a medium tank too but ... u understand :p )

And i would like to see a Jumbo instead of a Pershing. It will be more intersting i think, because Jumbo is not just a polyvalent tank like many other vehicles in the game, and in particular for USF ( Shermans are all polyvalent, the Bulldozer maybe less, but still efficient against most vehicles ), so new tactics, new strategies, not just " Oh man i got my Pershing, let's select all my units and right click to their base "

If there's a Pershing Doctrine, I hope they have it disable Vehicle Crews and M36's.

Breakthrough Armour Company:
Battle Ready (crews may not exit their vehicles for any reason)
Assault Engineers (make up for disabled crews)
Aerial Recon (P-47 recon plane lingers over an area)
M10 Wolverine (make up for disabled M36)
T26E3 Heavy Tank (the keystone of the commander)
Instead of Assault Engineers, make it so Battle Ready makes REs repair faster and then replace Assault Engineers with Calvary Rifleman that can be upgraded with Thompsons, kind of like Shocks from Shock Rifle.

Well, thats not technically true. Look up ie. the Hürtgenwald. Nitpick over.
Be that as it may, Allied numerical and material superiority was so overwhelming even in Normandy it is fairly surprising the affair lasted as long as it did anyways.

Be that as it may, a Pershing, if implemented like a rough Tiger analogue would be a craptastic idea in balance terms that OH would not be able to cope with.
