Now I think the real question here is, will the main gun be usable? (I believe it will). Since the VCoH calliope was unable to use it's main gun for balance reasons. :foreveralone:

Pershing shouldn't be too bad imo considering most USF armor gets rekt. :foreveralone:

You allied fanboys are allways making me laugh. I can't wait to see your disappointment when your precious little Pershing will be not even of Tiger's caliber not to mention IS2. So no, "axis fanboys" are not fearing Pershing. Panther will dispose of it with no truble at all. And all that axis fanboys will do then, is laugh of your tears. :p:p

Also, assuming there will be callipoe and assuming it will be able to use its main gun, why do you think it will be "cheap" enough to warrant it being replacement for normal shermans? What stops it from being really effective, but costing say 200 fuel? Would you use 200 fuel sherman in actual tank fights?

I hope the Calliope doesn't bring back the Calliope meta from CoH1, where you'd just spam Calliope's instead of building Shermans, because it was a Medium Tank and Rocket Artillery.

So...
Is there any purpose for doctrine with Jumbo? Yes, becasue USF don't have meatshield. Damn high armor, low speed, not best gun and now you have something what can get few hits and not die.

The Jumbo was the only US Tank at the time known to be able to deflect a direct hit from a Tiger Tank. If it had a 76mm gun, it had a change to take out the Tiger as well. It was used before and all throughout the Battle of the Bulge with great success, deflecting hits and foiling ambushes.

Personally I'd like to see the Sherman Jumbo with 960 health, 350 armour, and EZ-8's gun, for around 200 fuel a piece.

The Pershing doesn´t really belong into the game. Facing a possible Pershing doctrine in most games is boring, nothing new and not authentic. But the immersion was already ruined by Sovs + USA on one map. So I go with: "Meh."

The real problem was creating the US army around medium and light vehicles, yet only giving them access to good mediums via a doctrine. There should have been a non doctrinal 76mm Sherman.

Are you kidding? The 90mm M3 is better than the 88mm L/56 and the Pershing has better armor. 100mm at 30 degrees of sloping vs 100mm at 10 degrees which is basically almost flat armor.

The Pershing is better than the Tiger I and can deal with one without any issues at any range.

Oh and the Panther you say? Too bad that the Pershing with the 90mm M3 can make short work of it too at most ranges http://i.imgur.com/Xt23Z66.png

90mm M3 with M82 APCBC penetrates 120mm of armor at 30 degrees at 457m Source: range.https://sc-cdn.scaleengine.net/i/b4b8b21f15bf00f8893f157caea2e5831.png

The 88mm L/56 with PzGr 39 penetrates 120mm at 100m and 110mm at 500m. Source: http://i.imgur.com/LaVvuIA.jpg

The T30E16 HVAP (APCR) on the 90mm M3 also wipes the floor with the PzGr 40 APCR.

Doesnt matter at all, they came across each other.

The Shermans were deployed almost 3 years before the Tiger II, does that mean we should have no Tiger IIs ingame or something?

Judging by the in-game authenticity of last 12 months, germany had 1 P4 for every 100 tigers. :foreveralone:

To the people saying that seeing M26s often in this game wouldnt be authentic.

The US only came across the Tiger I on 3 confirmed accounts in the ETO, the Pershing engaged German armour in more cases than that. I can qoute most of the engagements from the M26 book by Zaloga if anyone wants it.

If the initial is your opinion then you may as well consider the removal of Tiger Is and Jagdtigers ingame.

310 Pershings in total were deployed in Europe where 20 of them saw combat.

JT? 88 made.

Sturmtiger? 19 made.

Ostwind? 45 made.

And thats just a few examples.

I can agree with this, 76mm Shermans like the Soviet Sherman should have been available alongside the 75mm Shermans.

It's not, but the Tiger was extremely common in comparison to the Pershing, which only saw a handful of engagements.

The US only came across the Tiger I on 3 confirmed accounts in the ETO, the Pershing engaged German armour in more cases than that.

That's simply not true. The Germans shifted considerable numbers of Panthers, Tiger I's, and Tiger II's to the western front in preparation for the Americans and British. We faced a lot of Panthers and Tigers there.

Johnny B preaching steel quality when panthers transmission was NEVER fixed, 90-150km of driving and they packed in due to DEAR GOD poor steel quality. Many panthers were abandoned due to something as comparably simple to the allies as having a reliable transmission. Bag your steel quality bull, also 152mm didn't have any qualms with steel quality, just shattered it, 17 pounder sliced it, Helcat ate it like tuna. Read a book once in awhile instead of just preaching aimlessly, late war it was mainly a game of who shot first, and who had ammo to shoot in the first place.

Besides that, good stuff USF late game needs a boost just make 6 commanders with Pershing for flavour like the Tiger.
