The Company of Heroes team is very excited to release a huge update to our tools to further support our community’s modding efforts! As part of the update going live on June 23rd, players will now be able to modify visual items such as decals, skins and faceplates, create their own Single player Scenario packs, and dive even deeper into gameplay modifications including modifying ABP’s and AI scripts.

What does this all mean? Keep reading to find out!

If I mod a skin do I have access to it in multiplayer? Or does the mod require it be loaded to the map?

Basically can I build my own skins and use them in multiplayer or is this just going to be for single player/arranged games?

Skins are submitted to the Steam Workshop. Once the skins are approved by Relic, they can be found in the online store and equipped in multiplayer matches. There is a workflow in place to deploy and preview the skins locally for development purposes, but cannot be used online in this fashion.

I'd rather have the ability to modify infantry meshes. It'd be cool to rid the Grens of their pointless, ugly camo.

Custom games yes, but not in match-making, only official Relic Docs, Skins, and Factions for that mode.

I still really hope Relic will change the colorful bars on vehicles. Anything but colorful bars.

You can think what you want about the patch, but the modding update is great and will finally enable to get mods like blitzkrieg 2 or clan decals etc.

#edit, just noticed the Jacksons have a Coh2.org decal - they really love us :*(

To be in multiplayer I think Relic must approve content and add it to ingame store (UGC system) like CSGO or Dota 2.

Skins and decals can always be used. Mods and factions can only be used in custom games.

I think skins and decals need approved as well, otherwise people would make high vis 'hitbox' skins like they did in CSS.
