Queenratchet

>obers come with a free lmg -> op
>captain & lieutenant should be not capped and come with free upgrades (120 muni & 60 muni) -> perfectly fine

not even considering the fact it looks stupid when more commander units run around than riflemen

We have this expression in brazilian portuguese, "Mais caciques do que índios", which roughly translates to "more indian chiefs than indians", usually in a context of a bureaucratic structure/place where there are a lot of officials or people with some authority with fewer employees. I served in one such military company, and it's really bad.

Honestly Though, If you raised the manpower price for the captain to about 390, and had the lieutenant had 360 MP, with a cap of either 2 or 3 on the field at once I think it would be fine. Also I don't think Queen is trolling or any of those sorts on this one, he could have done a lot worse if he wanted, and I don't see the harm of having 2 or 3 captains or lieutenant's, but I'm open minded towards other people's ideas, so someone reply and state their opinion of why my opinion is wrong, and it is a bad idea.

Idea reminds me of the old Panzer Elite infantry. Buy from HQ for 255 manpower and invest munitions for MP44s/Panzerschreck OR buy a squad with weapon upgrades already for 360 manpower.

Sort of interesting through that lens but I don't like the idea. Bunch of commander units running around sounds dumb. Riflemen, and the versatility of the Rifleman, are core to the US faction so giving US forces the ability to just spend manpower to build specialist troops goes against that.

It also would almost certainly be a balance issue without tuning as the US officer prices are manpower cheap due "one squad limit". 320 manpower for a LT squad is an excellent price for such a unit. Pay a one-time 40 manpower price for a BAR and Thompson is pretty sold. Captain is fairly similar.

US teching is already among the fastest in the game so being able to cut BAR and Bazooka research and just pick up specialist units would be pretty powerful.

I just don't really like it anyways. Don't need commissioned officers running around as basic units.

The most frightening thing would actually be 4-5 units with sprint ability, chasing down germans... captains screaming "On me!" all the time, no more need of armor. Would "on me" be stakable? And what about 4 captains running through the field, a 5th watching building of tanks.

I disagree with the idea.

Ok I'm convinced.

Give this to us for an April's Fools mode next year.

Now we have to think of simple yet hilarious changes for the other factions for this hypothetical mode...

you can basically have this right now.....since officers are just 1 BAR/ double zooka rifles anyway.

If this was implemented however,The Thompson model would never stay, and neither would the abilities like On Me.

now if the officers turned into 1-3 man squads, so you could have multiple blobs of rifles with a different officer leading, like the old Brits, it would fix the popcap issue from researching all officers and maintaining a core of rifles and vehicles.

But then all the axis players would quit because the blob issue would be worse than ever. So eh.

Edit I guess that's what queen troll wants.. All the axis players to quit. :snfPeter:

Wouldn't be quite as funny when they all retreat the moment an officer dies...but stacking like six Inspires sounds hilarious, though far less practical than the silliness of five Captains.

Why would you ban anybody for trolling? It's harmless unless you want to harm yourself by feeding.

[Post Number #33 and Post #34 Invised for Excessive Flaming/ Trolling. None the less it seems in my opinion that #33 started it so this is my warning to you Bulgakov. And Queen, while I do think he triggered this problem, Still please do not respond in such a manner, rather just report him than getting involved and ending up in trouble to.]

Gotta love these small notes from staff. Reminds me of prescription drugs' documents for patients. Read all the small letters, folks - they warned ya!

A more rational idea: if the officer squad from the tier is alive, allow either Assault Rifleman armed with 1 BAR and Tommy to be bought for 360 MP, or Tankbuster Riflemen for 440 MP. Both these units would replace the officer in the UI as long as he's still alive. On Me!, sprint, and supervise would obviously be removed.

Basically it would save USF munitions in exchange for MP. Idk if it would be balanced but I think it's similar to what Ratchet wants.

Why would you then buy the BAR or zook upgrade ever again? Just keep the munitions for skillplanes and glory of the US-Airforce...

Also had a dejavue reading this. Saw it on the alpha forums. The feedback was similar.

There was a time when OKW had a high manpower cost unit with free weapon upgrade. It was nerved lately.

Ans please give us unlimited Sniper-Panther for OKW too.
