I live in alexandria VA. Like alexander said the food in that area outside of D.C. is fantastic.

Make sure you check out the grand canyon. That is definitely a must see on your trip through the west.

Something to consider is a guide book to #1 top destinations in each state. Might make it easier to know what to check out when driving through each state.

I would add to look at top destinations in states bordering the ones where you already know you will be traveling to see if there is something worth the detour.

Also, bring lots of media. The US is big. REALLY big. I the northeast you can drive through some of the states in 2-3 hours, but as you go farther west the distances between states and especially cities can stretch to hours and hours even on the Interstate highway system (which is the most boring way to travel).

Nope not that one and it was very much alive.

Threw sand all the time to cool itself. (Rest of the ones did also / moved to water and back. It's a bit tricky to catch that on still photos.)

looks like you had fun.

and "fun"; someone should have warned you to stay out of oakland though but at least you didn't stay in stockton.

the sandwich post was most amusing though

damn man, sorry to hear. yeah, ppl are probably still really nuts as well with my GS warriors (nba) winning their first title in 40 yrs. people usually use sports winning as an excuse for hooliganism. also, oakland, from my really short experience there gave me anxiety.

It isn't the Warriors winning, it's just Oakland being Oakland. We try to pretend that city doesn't exist. Sorry to hear about the car and your stuff Flamee but it looks like you enjoyed the rest of the trip. Now that you have tasted In-and-Out Burger you will forever feel it's absence in your life.

That and Five Guys. :)

Yes it was fun and it was mostly clothes that got stolen. So nothing insurance does not cover.

For anyone who is planning same trip, try to arrange 1,5 months (or more). That extra 1,5 weeks would have been great.
