Finally Obersoldaten will have a worthy opponent!


Obersoldaten are the precursors to thunder warriors that became Space Marines bruh.

As for a new axis faction is your that desparate why not make one about the last minute cost effective and actually useful designs by Nazi Germany? Like the Hetzer/Marder series?

It is really difficult to add a new Axis faction that did not survive until 1944 or 1945. It would be difficult to make it competitive because there are Jacksons and IS2s in the game.

i think it is also a poor decision to split multiplayer into "early-war and late-war" since the playerbase is already so small. it would take ages to find matches.

I'm pretty sure they also said they have no intention to split the playerbase like that (of course that was said when we just started having east meet west), so I'd doubt they'd change their minds about that.

I'm looking forward to the Brits. Hopefully the new faction will make the matchmaking search time more reasonable and encourage axis fan boys to play more Allies.

It makes sense honestly

3 allied nations vs Germany (Easter front and western)

im hoping they add a ton of new commander with new units to both OKW and OST

We have to wait. Brits could be soo op. that OKW might get thier full resources back

Or we are all wrong. and its an axis faction

that would literally zero sense and you would be backtracking sense OKW is based around 1944. Soviet already kinda suffer from this problem as lot of their tech is based in 1941-1942

Hmm, perhaps they could approach this differently, they could have the British, BUT later on have another German faction that represents the forces fighting in Italy through 1943-1945. I know people don't want another German faction, however this one could include elements of the Italian military with German heavy call-ins/tanks. Britain could get a campaign that is set in Italy as they did fight there. This is just an idea, since Africa would be a little too early in the war.

I wrote it to say that the British are not needed, the Soviet Union can be given two more factions.
Before the release, developers say - this game will focus on the Eastern Front.

Exactly. Germans had a lot of different units in the WWII, and there is a "GERMAN WAR MACHINE SUPERIORITY" myth around them which makes them a viable choice for game design. There are still a lot of unused late game vehicles as you said.

But the main problem is, can they design a unique gameplay?

Well Ostheer could use Hetzer, make it better than StuG III (tougher). It could be an effective tank destroyer that Ostheer doesn't currently have, the StuG III is multi-role, good at AT and AI but excels at none.

PS: I would love to see a Wespe for Ostheer doctrine Relic, LeFH sucks too much :p

Some of those could be different and unique, some however probably not. StuG IV would be exactly like StuG III (practically) StuH would overlap with Stug E, just with bigger splash. Some of those also cancel out, Wespe and Hummel are same (SPG) one is worse though. Marder and Nashorn overlap aswell. Jagdpanther would be welcome. same as Panzer III. This is just however the problem with the Germans in WW2 though, too specialised and too much overlap.

I think the north africa front for the germans and the english/american cannot work as separate factions.

First cause relic has to do extra work. New assets, new environment, sand effects and so on.
Second it has a limited timeline, that means early tech for both armies.
Of course relic has proven that doesnt care too much about historical facts so we may stll see KTs with the africa korps logo :)

Brits are the obvious choice, half the work is done from coh1.

If they do the italians, it surely will be a different kind of fight, you can't rely on heavy tanks as OKW and Ostheer but you must rely on SPGs, the best examples are:
- Semovente 75/18 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semovente_75/18
- Semovente 105/25 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semovente_105/25 (for it there aren't many info in english)
The italian army will focus on the combination between infantry, artillery, light/medium tanks and SPGs.

PS: the other tanks you wrote should be given to Ostheer and OKW, especially for OKW i will give him the famous 88mm FlaK, the big guy that miss in CoH2. Anyway, i would take off Panzer III, for the ostheer i would send the Wespe, Hetzer, Jagdpanther and StuH42, for OKW Hummel, Marder III and Nashorn.
