Would anyone like to have an option in matchmaking to have 1000vp's

I think it would be awesome. The game would essentially be the same. But much MUCH longer.

I personally think this would be cool.

Nope. It would increase drops and not add anything to 95% of games. That's what custom is for.

Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

axis have suprior late game, in a double long game OKW gets it vet 5 on their panthers, Kingtigers and all the other stuff

Maybe but games could take forever. I mean sometimes 500VP are more than 1 hour (for me most around 1:05-1:10). Now double that, or even more for 1000VP.

I think the longest CoH game I've ever played was almost 3 hours on Vire River Valley in vCoH

It will split population (if some players choose ONLY 1000 VP games) which will result in even worse matchmaking.

IF it would be an OPTION for custom games ONLY then I'm okay with that.

Sorry, I have a life. Spending 3 hours just for one match it's not my objective. I really appreciate short matches (30 minutes). Maybe that's why I am a fan of 2v2 and 1v1 modes.

Ahh those were the days! I remember 3/4 hour games on Vire River, The Scheldt and Achelous River! I think my long best was about 4 hours 20 minutes on Achelous.

I wouldn't like this either - because of the balance issues mentioned above and because of the fact that in most of the games the result is decided between 20 to 60 minutes anyway, even 60-minute 1v1 games are very rare.

This is also the reason why the annihilate game mode doesn't make much sense to me.

Well since late game comes around 30 minutes and it turns into a squad wiping tank only fest, with a hill of dead bodies covering the VP points.

It's going to get really repetitive for another 30 minutes of the game since games that take that long usually end up in stalemate and people throwing away infantry squads.

Unless the game gets a major overhaul, i'm against 1000 VP matches.

The late game in particular is ugly, because every point in popcap is spent on the heaviest tanks available with a few pioneers/engineers sprinkled in here and there. Everything else gets destroyed by explosives sooner or later and isn't worth the manpower cost. With the current faction balance, this is obviously very one-sided.
