Bovington Tank Museum
Posts: 37
I'd like to share the photo album I built up of just over 300 Photos of the variaous and wide ranged (no pun intended) collection of armoured vehicles, tanks, self propelled guns and often questionable ideas they have stored in the Museum.
The Museum has a huge collection which spans many many decades and conflicts. From The first world war, right up to present day vehicles.
Here's a link to the Album.
Bloke's Bovington Photos
Now, as it happens, I live literally 15 miles away from Bovington (at the moment) and plan on re-visiting the Museum potentially in the next week or so. (If you buy a ticket for 12.50 GBP, you get a 1 year free pass)
Does anyone have a specific Armoured vehicle/Tank they would like Photographs/Walk around videos of from the WW2 era (or other era)because I am more than willing to get them for you. If you would like a specific vehicle to be photographed feel free to post below and I'll do my best to get it on camera for you.
If you ever intend to visit Dorset, I cannot stress enough, how great a day out it is at the Tank museum. There's also the Conservation centre that opens at a specific and limited time per day, which allows you to view an entire hangar full of "to be restored" armoured vehicles. You gain free access to this with your museum ticket.
Anyway, I'll stop waffling on let you enjoy the photos.

All I know for sure is the M1942 has a square hatch on the rear and the M1943 has a circular one. It's also difficult because the way the Soviets did things at times, so you get M1942 chassis with M1943 turrets and vice versa.

Wow those are awesome, thanks for posting those. Do you know if they have different versions of the T-34, like an M1942, M1943, M1944? I'd like to see those side-by-side. I have trouble spotting the differences through Google pictures

They don't, they only have the T-34/85.

How is the scale of the vehicles compared to CoH2? Is the StuG III / Panzer III really as large as a Panzer IV? Are the T-34 and Panther actually larger than the Panzer IV as well?
I know CoH1's scale was really wonky at times, like the M18 Hellcat being much larger than a Sherman even though it was smaller and armed with the same gun 76mm gun.

Shoddy Tank Photos
I also took a ride (for 3GBP) in an M548 tracked supply vehicle, which drove round the "Kuwait Arena" section of the museum (this is where they hold TankFest). And yes, it is really that bumpy.
My apologies for the rough edits in the video, as I'm on a minimal spec notebook that has trouble with anything more demanding than notepad.
Anyway, ENJOY the 20 Minutes!

The Panzer III is a bit like a a Hatchback, where the Panzer IV is a Sedan.

I plan on doing the same thing in the Tank Museum in Munster, Germany.
So good to see that they were able to restore most of the different tank types.
