But it is soooo op, as it was pointed out in another thread. If it comes to a typical relic-overnerf OKW is lost.

It's not that hard to take on maxims. in 2v2 i have no problems with maxims, just play well and preserve your units.

honestly, time will tell whether maxim spam is OP or not.

One thing to say, it's very annoying to verse maxim spam vs OKW.

But let us stop, take a deep breath, play for another 1-2 weeks and then talk about balance.

One side says maxim is OP, the other side says all of its counters (walking stuka, ISG) are OP. It's the never ending cycle of knee-jerk reactions and using strategies that are shit and hoping they will be better next match instead of changing them.

maxims are not op, the core issue here is that okw dont have a early counter like a mortar or scout car to deal with hgms. This make the maxims highly effective to lock down the map. So instead of nerfing a unit that is fine, why dont we cry for a buff for okw.

How do you flank Maxims on maps with limited space, like Crossing in the Woods, or beat a guy who sends 3 Maxims to the island on Semois (talking 2v2 here)?

I don't feel they're OP. They can be tough to deal with, but only if the OKW player is expecting to just spam shrecked volks to KT.

At the very early game the maxims are vulnerable to sturmpio flanks. And the early sturms are an advantage the Ostheer doesn't have. A sturmpio won't just force off the maxim, it will decrew it without letting it pack up.

As some more maxims hit the field the OKW player makes their first tech choice.

If they go Medic HQ they get the field howitzer which, over time, will eat up the relatively static maxims. The forward retreat also makes being pinned/suppressed less punishing.

If they go Mech HQ they can get an early 251/17 which will devour maxims without remorse. If they decide to hold off they can get a stuka, which is a hard counter to both maxims and Zis guns.

Depending on their doctrine they can go breakthrough and get a fusilier blob to simply a-move win vs maxims. If they go luftwaffe then any building nearby can spawn falls which will massacre any guns they appear near. If they go Spec Ops they can use cheap 10mun assault grenades to do consistent damage throughout the game.

Late game obers, like fusiliers, will just kill them at range.

I don't see what the big deal is.
