If you want to purely focus on utilizing 85's to their fullest Guards Motor is surely the best. They synergize well with buttoning Guards, Mark Target and self repair. Advanced Warfare on the other hand gives you Radio, PPSH's, Script repair and 90 mun Sturmo strafes. This complements your army as a whole and is well rounded. That said, go for Advanced Warfare if you want Radio and PPSH's or go for Guards Motor if you want strong mobile AT lategame. Armored Assault is nigh useless in its current state, due to the 85 call in being a double one.

I would say Guards Motor is the best because it has the highest chock value. You can play pretty bad but turn the game around easily with the powerful button + mark target + no tech double T34/85s. If you want cheap wins that you don't have to work for Guards Motor is a solid bet.

Guards motor. As they said, buttoning + mark target + 2 85's = dead German armor. Mark target makes taking on tigers much easier and makes your opponent if they know what they are doing to be hesitant to rush the tiger into your lines.

Which T-34/85 doc is the best and why?
What does it matter..
I think this tank is clearly the most effective going around, by a large margin. I have played several games where i have been unable to kill this tank, not without sacrificing my armour. As long as soviet player does not overextend rediculously and has a zis gun close by then T-34/85 can take on 2 p4 and still get out alive. May just be RNG, but i find killing these tanks imppossible a lot off the time. Especially on Langres.
Once the soviet player has 2 - 3, plus a couple of at guns then it becomes a war of attrition that ost will not win. Even if you can keep tanks alive T-34/85 simply destroy grens..
Tiger is too slow, p4 cannot finish the job, panther does well some times but is not cost efficient and misses bit too much to be reliable, which basically leaves elephant which i have not tried..
Guards Motor is easily the best because 2 guards squads can negate any ost armour push almost instantly, then T-34/85 and zis can just finish the job..

I think guards motor by far is the best. Why? Because 2x T-34/85s in combination with mark vehicle + guards button can take on basically any german vehicle quite easily. The 120mm mortar deals with those camping PaKs + MG42s.

Maybe it's 'cause the Axis players aren't a bunch of forum crybabies, and they keep their cool and fight the uphill battle, unlike some of their "allied" counterparts.

Guards motor is the best, followed by Advanced Warfare as a solid second for all the reasons stated in the previous posts.
But what Dasheepeh stated concerning armored assault is very interesting!
Armored Assault is a very late game doctrine, it's nigh impossible to field both the pair of T-34/85s and an IS-2 in 1v1, it becomes easier in team games. That being if you have good unit preservation and the game drags on, it's possible to field the pair of T-34/85s and an IS-2 at the expense of infantry due to the popcap.
I always felt the point of the Armored Assault Commander was to get both the IS-2 and T-34/85 and not have to choose one or the other. Changing the double T-34/85s calling by a single T-34/85 call-in would solve this issue and make the doctrine more appealing. It would be feasible to field a single T-34/85 and a single IS-2 giving more flexible tank tactics.

Its difficult to field two 85s and an IS2.. and even getting there is harder because the doc does not help you much early game.
And regardless.. there are not many situations that two 85s and an IS2 is going to be better than four 85s and mark target.
Simple as that.

Very True; but a single T-34/85 + IS-2 is still better than the current state of armored warfare don't you agree? It would be very feasible to field both. As I see it 4 T-34/85s > IS-2 + 1 T-34/85 > 2 T-34/85s.

If armoured assault had the single 85 call in, that would be a scary doctrine. The 85 would come in time to hold off any german armour, then it would be IS2 spam. Probably too OP imo.
