Now that this thing has gone the way of the dodo bird (Hopefully Relic has magic stats that say that the flame upgrade has been built 0 times since patch), what should be done to bring it back?

Increase lethality to be on par with M5 quad? Decreased munitions cost to reflect its performance? Move the upgrade back to battle phase 1?

The ironic part was, moving the flame upgrade to BF2 was intended to remove the early game armoured pressure the Germans have... and then they increased 222's lethality to do the same thing.

My personal solution would be to reduce cost to 80 munitions.

it's still pretty good. I hated the FHT pre patch.

When you saw it, game can only go two ways

1. You kill the FHT and you win
2. You don't and you lose.

Useless now, not just because it takes much longer to build but also because soviets tend to go heavy guards.

It's very hard to say.

The FHT's main issue is that it's not NEEDED and not worth the risk/investment compared to the hugely OP LMG/G43 Grenadiers. Why sink manpower and 2 LMGS' worth of ammo into a fragile unit when you can upgun your Grens and continue to rape Soviet infantry all the way through the game?

If this infantry disbalance is addressed in the next patch, we might get a better picture (I suspect once that happens, the FHT will arrive a little too late to have the kind of impact it was having before the last patch but we'll have to see).

Where is the option: "It's fine"?

I haven't seen it used since patch, but I don't think it's because it's under performing. It's simply not needed anymore.

Lets take a look at the FHT pre-patch. Why was it used? Answer: to counter shock spam.

Is the FHT still needed to counter shock spam? Answer: no, grenadiers with upgrades destroy them, along with any other soviet unit that has legs. Panzer grenadiers also win when engaging from long range.

The reason why you don't see any FHT post-patch is because the only soviet infantry that sorta deals damage to german infantry are the guards. Who happen to have PTRS rifles. When shock troopers become less useless again, the FHT will automatically become better again.

I abstain due to awful poll options. What is this, the Crimean referendum? Where is the "keep it the same" option?

Comes in too late in the game to be of any efficiency when an up-gunned 222 will out-perform it since the 222 comes out drastically sooner. And 120 munition to put into a half-track when there (should) be a lot of counters on the map you've already lost the "shocking" effect of pulling out the FHT on the field. I prefer just getting 2x 222/1's

If Ostheer reach T3 and floated 120 muni, Soviet still don't have enough counters wipe out that shit with one hand, he deserves going back to main menu and play tutorial.

It is just as dead as sniper car.

It is still a fine upgrade even mid/gate game to protect your MGs/PaK4s from shock/con flanks.

Also, it is more lethal this patch - way too lethal to come as early as it used to.

It's just fine but people do not build it because the scout car is slightly overperforming.

And also it seems that the use of a (vanilla) halftrack for reinforcing in the field isn't that common anymore.
