Kar is an abbreviation of 'Karabiner' which is german for carbine, and a carbine is a shorter barrel (usually heavier barrel) than its full length counter part.
So the Kar98 is a carbine.
The kar98K is a shorter version of that carbine ( the 'K' standing for kurz, which is 'short' in german )



That is my understanding as well (based on wiki :P ) ...which is the reason why I am confused about the weapon profiles in the patchnotes, i.e. G43 (being a longer rifle afaik) having a carabine weapon profile and kar98 (being shorter rifle) not.

As someone suggested above, maybe Relic uses the term carabine in a different meaning, not the actual definition (??).

I think we're getting hung up on semantics rather than accepting that terminology aside, it would be down to gameplay for the decision on what profile a weapon uses

Soviet T3 and T4 are now absolutely overpriced. 140 fuel for one of These buildings.It makes 280 fuel now if you wanna build both of them.

Soviet T3 & T4 are now +100 fuel(2 * 50) more expensive then before.
German battle phases are now only +50 fuel(1* 20, 1* 20 and 1*10) more expensive then before.

Seems crazy to me.

midrange

and for people on about svt close range they are not they are mid range weapons might be pretty good close range to though. :D

I asked PQ:
1 If topple the Soviet T3/T4 by enemy, is more expensive to build back than German.
2 Having both T3/T4 in Soviet, is more expensive than German.

and I did not clarify.

Ah okay,. that explains the spelling then.

Whats the reasoning behind your rage then, surly that's not a nationality related thing?
I've met plenty of French people who don't jump to conclusions before even playing something.
I mean com'on,. you can't pull a few stats out of a large patch and call it fail, far to many changes to how inf work to jump to a conclusion like that, and besides if what you said is true i'm sure a later patch will balance it out even more.
you must agree this is a step in the right direction yeah?

Does seem like the cost is prohibitive for ever having both buildings built in a game. Better solution might have been a supply depot style building for 50 fuel as a requirement for t3 or t4, thus staying away from an ostheer style phase upgrade, but only impacting on t3 and t4 for 50 fuel, rather than 100.

Wonder if we'll ever see a penetration increase on AT grenades. Panzerfaust's are guaranteed engine crit with 170 penetration compared to 100 penetration on AT grenades. Coupled with the fact that AT grenades range just got decreased and guards DP price increased dramatically (affecting Vehicle Button), it's going to get a lot riskier on the AT infantry side for the Soviets.

I do have a concern about the fuel cost of t-3/ t-4 for soviets, 140fu for each, however its nothing to do with its comparison to the german tech.

My worry is this:

Guys builds tiger, rushes base. Now as it stands this is usually a waste, may get a squad or 2 before dieing and maybe a building at a little inconvenience, but over all its cost incurred to its damage done is a bad decision.

Now a tiger rushes base,. kills a t-3/t-4 building, bam! 140fuel damage done + the mp,. if it kills 2 of them bam! 280 fuel + mp damage done to a target that cannot move or fight.

Now that isn't such a bad return, add in a lucky squad wipe and your evens with cost, add to that to the fact it will cause you enemy micro and time to deal with it why wouldn't you do it?
Its a cost effective suicide that has a very very good chance of paying off. Loosing the mp and fuel cost of a tiger compared to the fuel cost of t3-t4 plus the engi's and time to build seem like a good trade to me.
