Shocks more powerful on the move?

During the last SNF round Peter Quimseh said that shock troops actually do more damage while on the move.

I was wondering if anyone understood how this worked and could explain?

Thanks

They have 50% longer burst duration.
They still suffer fotm accuracy penalty.

That is just a strange mechanic.

I find this rather unintuitive. Every single unit in the game is stronger in cover and standing still except shocks... ok.

Stormtroopers, MP 44 Panzer Grenadiers, and Assault Grenadiers from CoH1 were more accurate while run and gun..

But this means they have higher DPS overall?
I thought that this bonus just mitigates the DPS lost from accuracy penalty while on the move, helping shocks getting at close range and then stopping.

most squads have a 50% accuracy penalty. ppsh only has a 25% penalty (so they shoot at 75% accuracy). 50% more bullets with 75% of the accuracy means they have 12.5% better dps while moving. as far as i know, ppsh is the only weapon that functions like this.

Ok.
Does the moving do that the unit they are up against have a lower accuracy?

not exactly sure what you mean. does moving with shocks lower the accuracy for units shooting at them? or does shooting at a moving target with shocks lower the shocks accuracy? the answer to both of those is no

Ah OK, I only played single player in vCOH. I still don't understand this feature o_O It just makes cover even less useful and detracts from any semblance of realism (I know gameplay trumps realism but c'mon!)

No, it makes assault troops function as assault troops.

I believe Thompsons and STG44's just had 25% reduced accuracy, they weren't more accurate. MP40's were still 50% reduced on the move

I don't see how gaining DPS from moving makes them "Assault Troops", if anything it should just be minimal loss of DPS while moving.

I agree. I imagine having high dps at short range and poor at long would make them assault troops. This mechanic, similar to blizzards, just seems like an APM dump for players to run their troops back-and-forth at point blank range.

80% even for the mp40's but i beleive it was compensated with more bullets when on the move
