It's not overpowered, a unit shouldn't be idle for that long anyways, if you know they have a 120mm mortar, and that they are vet 1, then you shouldn't leave your units idle, and move and re deploy.

not viable. Mortars need to be stationary to fire their barrage, and AT guns don't operate when not still. thats when the 120mm hits, hits onces, and hits HARD.

It is pretty damn strong, but keep in mind it's not 100% accurate, it's just much more accurate than normal. There definitely are plenty of times when the shell misses and doesn't kill the squad.

Counter barrage is actually very strong too. Not for countering precision strike, but just overall it's very strong in mortar duels.

In my 150+ soviet games, I have never had precison strike miss.

Why does everyone keep bringing up the 120mm mortar? The regular mortar from T2 has the precision strike ability, and fires the 120mm shell when using it. This has nothing to do with the call-in unit.

And a unit shouldn't idle for that long?? It takes 5 seconds for the shell to hit. What kind of setup unit stays setup for less than 5 seconds?

Reposition as go else where on the map, he can't shoot you, if he doesn't know where you are. are people honestly that narrow-minded.

My main gripe with it is that its more cost effective heavy arty for Sovs, while Germans have very little to respond with. Sov mortars turn into a arty piece with vet while german mortars have a vet ability that may or may not even work, and it disables regular firing.

I agree with previous comments, the mortars should have spotters or troops in contact before they can use precision strike. Not be able to randomly drop a single shell on something with such great accuracy.

the reason ppl keep on bring 120mm is not mean about the call in 120mm mortar team, the T2 82mm mortar team's precision strike fires 120mm round same as 120mm mortar team, same power, same range?(i believe) and doesn't need spotter to fire that 100% accurate round is what is broken for its pirce

All this is true but you forget the fact that before Vet1 usefulness of Soviet mortar is somehow questionable as mortar struggles to hit anything with its slow rate of fire.
I only find precision strike useful in weapon teams heavy games or to snipe Pioneers repairing damaged vehicles.

You really should not struggle to get vet with Soviet mortar. Place it well back and let it pick off units as they try to cap. It will vet quickly. I never have a problem getting vet 1 on any mortar against humans.

Some rus players have using the mortar to deny the territory, with su85 expert Fov, spam mgs and shocks, no chance to take some cut points...

This style of soviet play is very defensive. While it will be hard for the ostheer to cut off the soviets, it should be easy to hold your own territory.

Is it just me, or does this thread read like someone has 3 or 4 accounts and keeps posting on it?

As one of the top players in both factions with equally played games (about 1k each) i deem Shocktroops and Vet 1 Soviet Mortar ability needing a tweak/fix/balance etc etc.
