Not sure if this goes here or in some other forum, but yeah, THQ is in deep trouble (surprise). They are selling off their assets and games which presumably includes CoH 2 and so on. I hope Relic will be OK :(

It's Chapter 11, which is a restructuring. We're going to be just fine, thank you for your concern, though :)

They used to be worth over two billion. :( Long time coming but its still sad, I liked THQ. Hopefully this doesn't push back release schedule for coh2.

I wonder who will buy off THQ's property.

Well, THQ is trying to sell of many/most of its assets - Relic might be one of those, right? Or the CoH license or something? Clearlake Capital is buying $60 million worth of stuff from THQ to sell to others, so Relic might be part of that $60 million.

Do you have a source for this? I can't find anything like this. The closest is THQ's statement that the studios will remain open during the 30 day restructuring period during which everything is sold off. Since Tribalbob isn't worried, though, I guess Relic will be fine.

None of that says anyone at Relic, Volition, whatever are safe, because once they're all sold to some new company, that company might decide to downsize them. Right?

tribal bob doesn't seem to think so. also why would they want to get rid of the company that is making a game for them currently. that already has pre orders and everything. i imagine the head people (and others) have seen this coming for quite awhile.

I feel like Relic would be a mighty prize, so while new management could be a problem in a thousand different ways, being downsized is probably not one of them. Relic has a big list of awards and great successes, including one of the best RTS of all time on practically any metric.

I think CoH2 will be just fine.

Wonder who will acquire Relic... I hope CoH 2 comes out fine and in excellent quality.

I hope someone decent will acquire Relic and take care of the game more than THQ did.

Actually, as a banker having dealt with quite a fair number of companies that filled for bankruptcy during the last 3 years, I can tell you that things will not be "just fine" from now on. Worst case scenario the company could be sold asset by asset and it's employees laid off. That's pretty grim but not unlikely.

I hope though that things will work out for the better and that THQ will survive this bankruptcy for everyone's sake.

so.. if EA is going to buy CoH, will we get a "different" game? like.. would EA be able to shape the game to be pay 2 win or multiplayer DLC heavy? or is relic still going to be "in charge"?

Lol, where does it say anywhere that EA will buy CoH-franchise? Just wait and see what happens in the next few days ;)
