Gotcha. Good to know!
Thanks folks |
that's... lame
I have an i5 2500K, 970GTX, 8 GB of ram, which is not top end (especially the old processor) and as soon as more than 4+ squads appear the framerate dips into the 30-40's. Any idea as to why? |
Hi,
Not sure if this is a bug, but the game runs in 32 bit on my 64 bit machine no matter what I do (even adding -64bit for launch options). Is the game only 32 bit??

Interesting responses, thanks.
So I'm only interested in competitive multiplayer. vCoH came pretty close to perfection in this regard (although it fell short in some respects). How is the netcode? Leaderboards? Replay features? Competitive scene? I don't have the time to be a hardcore player but I like to see expert matches between skilled players etc.
EDIT: P2W DLC is a kill joy, and it's not as good as vCoH? Anybody have a counterargument?
It's not on sale anymore but I don't really care I would buy it anyway if it's good since I haven't played a good RTS in ages... |
So I originally preordered this because of my love of the original, but I found the beta to be very disappointing on many fronts.
What I want to know is: Has the game improved significantly since then? Does it live up to its predecessor, or am I better off just reinstalling vCoH?
Thanks! |
Which is lame! the attention to detail, especially on the factories, was gorgeous. And so satisfying when the tank depot poops out a fresh new tank! |
Infantry firing from within moving vehicles was never a standard strategy because of the exposure of the infantry in the vehicle and the inability to accurately fire on the move. The full protection of infantry in the vehicle + full accuracy is the crux of the problem. Infantry should essentially be forced to dismount in combat, with shoot-on-the move being basically just a tiny bit of bonus damage. |
Jenni: You raise a really good point here that it might just be familiarity. I mean, SC2, from an artistic point of view, is a masterpiece. There's just such an astonishing level of attention to detail, love, and care that went into that game's visuals, but it doesn't do anything for you. Perhaps that's just where I'm at with CoH2 right now.
Mag: So far I agree. It's hard to really make a firm opinion, because all I'm really feeling could simply be discomfort that things have changed, and in a month I'll be fine with it. However the German announcers were very sinister in the original game and I loved this. There was limited immersion breaking in the original game, if I remember it correctly. |
Well, I'm not going to argue that it's not balanced or something on that order. It just doesn't seem like good design at first glance.
Also you don't need to fire up 7 squads and have them all use nades to deal the damage that they really need to: an engine critical. All it takes is one. So that's what, 35 munis?
Again I'm concerned about this, but unwilling to pass judgment. Sticky rifles were balanced on a knife edge in the last game. |
I noticed this during a game I played a while back. Conscripts can get a speed boosting charge AND sticky bombs (which seem to do decent damage too). Is this correct? Does it make any sense?
I had a panther which would have avoided riflemen with ease in CoH but which was mobbed by a conscript horde in no time flat. I confess that I was not necessarily paying super close attention, but I could have sworn I had some decent maneuvering room. |
