When are you thinking about buying this game?

Personally, I'm thinking 3-6 months depending on how many issues there are at launch. I also want to see the meta stabilize a bit first.
I think that is a poor decision.
- I think the most interesting part of a multiplayer game is when the meta has not been defined and players are exploring different options. This keeps games fresh and full of surprises. On the other hand, strong meta games such as CoH 2 in 2023 guarantees repeat strategies (such as Pathfinder meta for USF)
- Early versions of the game are truer to the game developer's original vision and is less "tainted" by community forum complaints that result in mirroring of gameplay mechanics in the name of balance as we saw in CoH 2. The most enjoyable experiences in CoH 2 was immediately after releases (such as WFA). There we saw exciting elements of the game such as OKW 33% fuel handicap, USF's flamer riflemen and powerful Easy 8s and M1919s, m20 scout car with the bazooka, refuel & refit mechanized company, non-doctrinal Panther and Panzer for OKW, locked trenches for UKF. Unlike most other games such as BF2042, CoD, Starcraft where you do not see significant changes to the design of the game besides bug fixes, Company of Heroes 3 most likely will be a different game within 6 months.
- You will have a progressively more difficult time joining in multiplayer as the game advances as the community accumulates experience and hours in the game. An example is how new players today struggle in CoH 2 due to facing a veteran community of anywhere between 500 - 5000 hours in the game since 2012
- Considering Relic Entertainment is unlike other developers, in that they have a track record of listening to community members throughout CoH 2 and CoH 3, there is a benefit in you joining in early as you may have influence in the decisions of Relic.
- If you have played the playtest and have enjoyed the game, I see no reason to delay it for further inspection. It is understandable if you had qualms with the game, though.
- If you care about making a name for yourself in the competitive or content creator community, it is a good idea to start early

As predicted, Relic has no idea what they are doing and who their core audience is.

This goes both ways tho. Community feedback reveals lots of bugs/performance issues which launch version can have. Given the multiple playtests we had, rly hoping that isnt much of an issue here

Wanting to hop in when meta stabilizes will mean you are completely inexperienced in a world of meta.
Better put on some lube on these cheeks, you'll need it.

CoH3 beta can potentially become a worthy sequel in maybe 1 year but Relic is R.I.P. with a bad publisher. Like EA DICE and Bioware, Relic's ongoing talent bleed will destroy this studio.
Sega/CA marketing has become the EA of strategy games. For recent proof of this look into Sega's Super Game initiative and Warhammer 3.
Sega marketing is investing over 800M dollars into making live ops games that can compete with Apex and Fortnite.
From independent Total War content creator, Volound;
Creative Assembly Spent 4 Years Making a Fortnite Clone:
Volound
Been more than a year now since Warhammer 3 launched and had very few people come to me and tell me I was wrong about anything. The most hilarious instances though are the recent ones where people try to spin the eventual breaking of a complete dead silence (with crumbs) as some sort of silver lining.
"The fact that CA is still unwilling to post a simple roadmap due in November to showcase the content planned for WH3 should tell you a lot on how that game has been managed and who makes these decisions on the brand/marketing side.
One thing that I’ve noticed is that nearly all of the people I worked with at CA on WH3 have now left the company, including brand managers. Yet it feels like nothing has changed 🤷♂️

Fortnite earned its owners over $21 billion in its first four years, which is undoubtedly the world record among games of any genre. Of course, it would be rude and wrong to believe that the cost of Fortnite is its profit since the amount is much higher. Although based even on these data, we can safely assume that anyone who wants to buy Fortnite will undoubtedly buy the entire Epic Games company.
Sega’s ‘Super Game’ initiative will be a multi-title project and might involve NFTs, cloud gaming, 11 Apr 2022:

Japanese game publisher Sega had outlined its plans to create ‘Super Games‘ during 2021’s financial year presentation. It had also pledged an additional investment of up to 100 billion yen in the next five years to make existing IPs into a global brand by promoting it to global players by 2024 and create ‘Super Games’ by 2025.
100 billion yen is over 700M dollars. With current and new funding this is likely over 1 billion dollars in ‘Super Games‘ investment.
Anyone who thinks Sega marketing cares about CoH3 or Total War fans might as well believe in
Santa Claus
I'm not blaming CoH3 fans. If you like the game, then great. But don't be naive and think Sega marketing is on your side because this is Sega right now;
