Teamgame Suggestion

So in every popular competetive multiplayer teamgame you have a fixed number of players (5v5, 6v6 etc.):
Counter Strike, LoL, DotA, Rainbox Six, Overwatch, you name it. The ranked matches are fixed by this teamplayer number.

One of CoH2's problems is the unbalanced 4v4 mode. This is partly due to the playerbase. The teamgame playerbase is divided in 3v3 and 4v4.

Random/Solo searchers usually want the big battles of 4v4. There are like none people who specifically search random 3v3 and not also 4v4.


So my suggestion is to remove the 3v3 Mode in Ranked matches:

-Its easier to balance out maps, because there are only 4v4 maps
-more maps (the specs for making a new map are easier, there is no dire need for mapmakers to make 3v3 maps)
-you have more time to polish existing maps
- you have a larger player pool
- with the larger player pool its much easier to balance out the player search

- teams of 3 (guys who want to play with 2 friends) play with 1 random which works absolutely fine in other games (counter strike, DotA, LoL, Rainbow six, etc.) and is widely accepted.

-you can keep the 3v3 maps in custom games

Relic should consider to just scrap the 3v3 Mode.

LoL. Play the meme mode that is 4v4? I specifically search for 3v3. This is an unconventional but ultimately retarded idea. 3v3 is the best mode concerning teamplay/skill but the horrible map design is what keeps it seldom played.

Across the rheine -> a lane map with retarded building/cover placement/elevation
Redball -> Just no
Port of hamburger -> retarded map of the century winner
Ettelbruck -> too small and tight. Favors only one style of play. Best thing is that it's extremely dynamic.
Rhzev -> snow map -> fps drops -> due to the orientation, favors super heavies. Also badly designed.
Lienne -> Spawn dependent and laney. Extremely retarded map with horrible pathfinding
Angermunde -> MG/mortar/pak43 map
Essen -> Too wide/big for 3v3
La Gleize -> Too big + snow map



You are left with:
Whiteball, which is a good map, could use a rework for 3v3 for the spawns.
Oka River Winter. A fine map but it's a snow map so it's unpleasant to go lategame with FPS tanking from 140 to 20.
Winnekendonk -> A fine map, but also favors one spawn over the other and some cover positions are sketchy. Also, since it's wide-oriented, super heavies dominate it (ele parked around mid can shoot at anything, anywhere).
Hill 400. Great map, biggest downside are the elevations which screw with the engine/hit chance/ground attack/cover
Steppes. Great map, albeit far too large for 3v3. Munition part of the map favors kubel/222 spams vs USF. If you spawn deep, you'll have a harder time getting to the frontline.
General mud. Also a great map but too large for 3v3.

I dont think any mode should be removed.

But I think the idea is that:
1v1 = 1v1
2v2 = two 1v1s
3v3 = three 1v1s

4v4 is the only mode that is played completely different with two players heading to the fuel and fighting on the fuel all game long.

So the OP is saying we already have three modes that basically play like a 1v1, why not remove one to get more players in 4v4.

it can be balanced with the higher focus on 4v4 maps and factions which only have to be consired 4v4 (not3v3)

4v4 can be fixed easily: overhaul the map pool, and create really huge maps that make gangingup maneuvers risky (huge retreat paths from spawn) and allow the mode to become 4 1v1s with huge tank battles at the end.

Most of the current map pool is way too small to allow this, and 4v4 becomes a stupid mode because lose lane -> go one lane to the right -> 2v1 some poor bastard -> he quits.
