imo time to revert the cooldown to upon deployment or lessened the timer on destroy.

in 2v2 losing a tiger means almost no more time to refield it.

seeing heavies call in aren't as all in one now, aka weaker gun against infantry.

I would have give all Engineer units able to build a Commander post at base.
That building allows you to build Commander's units.

You sre complaining about exactly the function the ability is supposed to fill. If you lose your tiger, you are supposed to make due with the units in your core as punishment.

Then don't lose the Tiger? Or replace it with something else... It's not supposed to be easy to recover from that loss

Working exactly as intended then.

I suggest not to stall for a tiger and then throw it within 30 seconds

Yeah no. Heavies are hard enough to destroy that you don't need to be punished for killing one by having them instantly reappear like the old days- especially when heavies can let you bank fuel if you are at popcap or have good map control due to power spike they give you. Learn to either stall for the cooldown if you want another heavy or just get mediums- good to have that decision making instad of no brain instant rebuild.

Guard that thing like your match depends on it, because that is exactly how it is. Heavies are in a bad state imho but the cooldown time is not one of the issues.

Any other unit you lose has to be rebuilt, why should a top-tier heavy tank be an exception?

Are heavies actually strong enough at the moment for this to need to be how it works, though? It is/was understandable when Heavies were quite so dominant, but my understanding is that Heavy Tanks are currently fairly underwhelming as a whole.

If heavies are so bad as I'm reading here then why people [still] use them? Old-time memories just don't die?

I think a lot of people use heavies (Particularly the Tiger) because they are "cool", not so much because they're the most effective option going.

Old-time yes.
Lower skill players
Heavy urban, where there's lots of brawling
Bait
Infantry spam out of control and/or high med presence
etc.

The performance of heavies has nothing to do with the mechanics of their cooldown. Killing a heavy/superheavy should be rewarded by actually having some down time and not immediately facing a replacement if the enemy got to save up resources. If heavy tank performance is lacking, their performance should be buffed. The current cooldown mechanic is how it should have always worked.
