Gammon bomb have no reason to do extra damage to buildings since they are vehicles snares. Mainline infatry have little reason to have the utility of blowing up structures.

Isn't gammon bomb dose the same damage as satchel ? Or there is a special dmg modifider of gammon bomb vs structure that i dont know about ?

Anyway, as far as i know, gamon bomb and satchel are the same thing so the "do extra damage to building" things is incorrect.

Further more, penals are mainline And they can demolish building from the get go. Why cant Tommy do that ? Taking in to account that they have teched the latest tech level with offense theme in mind.

Still, i'm not again change gammon into snare at all, by making it stick. Finally uk will have snare on mainline, omg.

Lel, git gud and L2P nub

Kappa

I am all for the proposed lowered damage on gammons against ONLY HQ buildings

As for the comparison with satchels, thats unfair AF, since getting 2 to 3 penals AND mortar as SSSR is hell of a lot more difficult than getting 2 to 3 Tommies and hammer

You forgot mortar pit.
Tommies do not crap out smoke themselves.

Isn't back tech for support weapons kampania of sov was made cheaper recently? The entire tech structure is cheaper than Hammer tech alone. And 120mm call in is also there. I believe event rarely seen, 120 is still better than pit.

It is and backtech in late game is mandatory as SU-85 alone can be rushed, that long PTRS penal squad is a stop gap, not proper AT and you need ZiS anyway.
However with less heavies around it might not be as mandatory as it was to back tech in 1v1.

It's ironic because changing gammons into an AT snare would be a enormous buff to Tommies if anything

Axis would actually have to kite with vehicles against Tommy blobs instead of driving into them guns blazing

That is a balance issue my point is design issue.

In addition if you actually read the thread I have also suggested moving the snare to Ro.E if it becomes an issue.

You can't use that smoke with arty barrage, which is what OP is describing.

That is incorrect smoke and barrage are on different CDs. One can use arty smoke and call arty with a single tommie squad.

Problem with nerfing tools against Best-Kommando HQs is that you then end up incentivising more aggressive truck play and nobody likes to play against OKW Sims. Endlessly reinforced volksblob is just....bad. An exposed HQ truck should be punishable, within reason.

Both have a modifier vs structures. So they do extra damage to buildings that is correct.

Well i am not going to go into penal but if they are designed as mainline infatry they should not be able to do it either. But lest not derail this thread talking about penals.

Weather aggressive truck placement should be punished or not is separate issue.

The question is should be punished by a mainline infatry with access to smoke, off map arty and anti structure satchels.

Yes.

The answer is yes.

Was it any other way, it would be addressed years ago, because its not a fresh "issue".

In fact, it was already addressed years ago, when OKW teching and economy was changed and ever since you have a choice - you either expose your trucks to counter by placing them forward, but also reaping potential benefits of doing so, or stick them to the base, where they are completely safe from everything but on map artillery.

No one is forcing you to place trucks forward, you evaluate risk vs reward and make a choice that suits you best, then deal with consequences of that choice.

Out of interest, what's the cost of smoke + coordinate fire + the gammon bomb? Vs the IL-2? Think the IL-2's a one shot on HQs right? Trying to compare it against equivalent tools in the Allied arsenal.

To this day I still ask myself, why you can manually aim with the bofors, but not with the OKW flak.

This meme could be dealth with one single change:

GIVE SCHWER HQ ABILITY TO GROUND ATTACK

Why not? Is it OP? But you use micro right? This way you would have a counterplay to the 200IQ smoking the schwer or 300IQ just drive tank to it first so the schwer targets that and you can just run infantry to it.

There is no valid reason not to implement this change.

Smoke is 25
Barrage is 45
gammon is 50

I have to point out thou that you are comparing a stock option with an commander ability.

IL-2 does not 1 shoot trucks.

And you are answering the wrong question. If you want to talk about truck and countering aggressive placement you can start another thread.

This thread is about UKF and their stock option to destroy trucks.

Couldn't you just attack ground into the smoke with Schwer to slow down the attack? Then bring infantry to counter.

You can't prevent smoke and gammon bombs. They are being used as intended. You can position your Schwer better in a safer position to avoid being smoke gammon bombed. Or just kill his mortar pit, those are insanely easy targets for stuka.

Not to pudding on OP but this seems like a l2p positioning issue rather than a gameplay mechanic issue/abuse.
