Didn't read the whole thread but imo obers are not the issue given their cost, timing and singular role combined with less than exceptional durability (I mean it's good, but they are still a 4 man squad) the issue, imo is that it's harder to find an okw squad that ISN'T good on the move. Tone down obers otm and they become even less attractive when you have things like model sniping g43 JLI, stg volks, falls, g43 fussies... Hell even sturms aren't the worst at chasing. When everything is above average how do you make elite be elite without making it increasingly powerful? Maybe if every remaining solider in the third Reich couldn't 360 no scope while running obers could afford to be toned down but atm there's not a chance in hell its feasible imo

That makes no sense when Infantry Sections, Riflemen, Penals and SVT/7man Conscripts walk all over STG Volks.

Fallschirmjäger are good but they aren't better than Rangers, Shocks or Guards. Jägers are better IR Pathfinders but come at 1 CP instead of 0 CP so I guess you could argue they are better than their Allied counterpart.

The only OKW infantry that is really good on the move is G43 Füssiliers.

No okw infantry is BAD on the move. I too find it outrageous that units costing more or coming later or costing more and coming later are stronger than the basic infantry in a faction with stock elite infantry too but that particular discussion is for another thread. I maintain, all okw infantry does well on the move so in order to stand out obers HAVE to be outrageously good at it. They don't have camo like falls or JLI, they don't have utility like sturms, no snare like fussies and only 4 men making them vulnerable (again no capacity to hide from a threat) so their sole job needs to be done very well. Neuter their on the move performance and obers are dead. Unless we are to consider returning their stationary performance to their launch levels but I think nobody wants that.

I agree Obers on the move DPS shouldn't be lowered but the reason for that is not the performance of other OKW units but simply Obers not being OP.

Obers are pretty well designed IMO because they are not particularly good until they reach vet 2 but become very strong later on rewarding good unit preservation.

The Obersoldaten lmg34 has a better on the move dps ratio(60%) then most other infantry small arms-hell, it has a better damage ratio than obersoldaten bolt actions. I consider this to be problematic given how high the base damage output is to begin with and what I perceive to be lmg34 ober's role.

When compared to the on the move MG stats of other infantry, commando brens have ~42% on the move dps, and paratrooper m1919s a measly ~18%. Now with the commandos it makes sense given their role as mobile ambush infantry but the obersoldaten are long range specialists. I do not see why they should be able to chase down other squads so easily.

I dont know exactly where the MG34(on the move) damage ratio should sit, but I'd say bringing it down to ~40%(on the move) would be a start.

Edit: As far as I'm concerned, the ability to fire an LMG on the move is already a big enough boon, they dont need to excel at it too.

Its ok, i take the tommy squad as OKW. Brits can have the obers. im fine with that
