Axis gets free stuff for teching

A lot of the current balance issues (axis stomping allies) lies in the free stuff axis gets while every allied faction needs to pay for even the slightest upgrade. How can we fix this?
My proposal is splitting the main- and sidetech cost, and increase the cost to finally match the ones of allies.

Yeah the Axis gets all the free stuff. Can’t think of a faction that gets 3 free units, free recon, free artillery and free retreat point for teching.

I know this is most likely trolling, but...

Well, USF does too (squads)

Not sure about Soviets, their tech is maybe cheaper

Brits are the pity-worthy here, since they only get really weak arty that they still have to unlock and use for ammo

Yeah the Axis gets all the free stuff. Can’t think of a faction that gets 3 free units, free recon, free artillery and free retreat point for teching.


I would skip on the first "free" (250mp/35 totally worth for tech that allows you to build one unit only Kappa) squad any day if I would get weapon racks, nades and snares all at once from it instead

Absolutely, although I find vet 3 LT with double BARs to be extremely strong. Officer passive sprint is very strong.

if im not wrong is still almost the same unless there is a great disparity in build time right ?

(well unless u rush, in that case allied faction can skip upgrades to rush things)

I would say it a combination of how many resources you need to invest, the time one get and the affect it can have.

For instance UKF grenades can prove extremely effective since they can be unlock early and can swing early engagements or M3/WC51 vs non faust opponent.

Everybody who plays USF would do this if they could, but I think the balance team said it was off-limits as "free" officers are part of the core of the faction.

Teching cost is misleading as long as it's focused only on fuel, not taking into account man power and compared only in total value.

A proper comparison would look something like this:

-Support weapon + medics

-Light vehicles tech + weapon

-Medium tank no rush vs rush

-Complete roster.

Yes I would take free bar & nade upgrades over free LT and CPT.

Make it so axis have to pay fuel and manpower for grenades and weapon upgrades but gets 1 free volk/gren squad without snare as a tradeoff.

So 2 Panzergrenadiers and 1 artillery officer for free, but I need to pay 15 fuel for nuke grenades.

Sounds amazing.

Funny to hear nuke-grenade 2019/2020. The geballte Ladung isn't that good, performance is little better than normal brits-nade, but has longer timer and worse range, it is even more expensive. xDD

Since when are officers as good as pgrens? They need the weapon/nade tech anyway to even be remotely comparable in power

They’re not comparable to LMG Grenadiers either, more like 5 man Grens with 1 or 2 STGs later.

Point is, both approaches are beneficial.

Yeah I agree with all of this, and definitely not agreeing with OP. I do feel people overvalue the free squads sometimes though

But I agree on the vet 3 LT as well. The sprint can help so much in the late game
