No, you won't be screwed. Your map doesn't need to be playable by 8 players to win that category. It will be judged for what it is.
We combined those sizes in order to try to even out the submissions that we expect to get per category.

If you want to enter a map, try to keep it to one category. However, if you're unsure, we will determine during our tests whether your map is suited to that category. A lot of 1vs1 maps are similar to 2vs2, so we'll look at the way they play and decide in the end.
It won't mean that you lose out on your chance!
Just have a play yourself and see which you think it suits best.
