Everybody should take a deep breath and relax. I've been following this thread some while and I feel that people fail to read and understand what others write. Just because the case is so close to you and important doesn't mean you should get heated up and read ”opponents” post in rage-mode.
It seems to me that some of the players don't see (or don't want to see) that you and your ”opponent”, pro-coh2 and vcoh elitist, are on the same side. We all want CoH2 to be a good game and a great successor to CoH, don't we? And reading the thread you can draw a conclusion that it really is the case. But only if you read it without taking a side, defensive-mode, nitpicking etc. I mean seriously, how many times people who currently dislike the game or some aspect of it have to say that they want CoH2 to be great, until someone believes them?
You say you want constructive criticism, well people have given plenty of it. Even Basilone. Still some manage to snipe single things out of his comments and blow it out of proportion and debate about silly things. All this while absolutely ignoring comments of Kolaris or Tommy. Or the comments about Relics behaviour and lying...
Now then, some think that I exposed myself being a ”vCoH fanboy” – I am. But I enjoy playing CoH2, at least to some extend. Still I can see the reasons why majority of the veterans have left. There's no smoke without fire. I hope Relic can win it like Charlie Sheen but I have my doubts. |

As history has shown the Soviet ideology proved to be just as harmful (arguably more) than that of the Nazis.
Some people like to take a modern "progressive" and "politically correct" stance on the subject of East and West but the cold hard facts are that the Soviet Union and all PACT countries were the bad guys and have caused harm to the world that is still felt to this day. Like it or not the East were and continue to be the "bad guys" and no amount of sugar coating and history denial will change that.
The world is a better place without the Soviet Union. The world would have been a better place if the Germans had succeeded in their supposed goal of "racial genocide" (which wasn't the goal) against the Soviet Union.
When discussing about this kind of subject, it's very important to separate governments/dictators from the people. |
About the title, in the end, the main character is very much portrayed as a hollywood hero which pretty much still justifies the name Company of Heroes...

There has constantly been a lively debate in the US, and other nations, about the morality of the use of the atomic bombs. I think that sort of thing is healthy, having this be out in the open and part of public discourse is healthy.
It's a good thing there's debate about this subject, but if we really think about it, there shouldn't even be any debate. The fact that we even own weapons of mass destruction and keep developing new and more powerful ones is very staggering. This tells the state of mind our so called leaders and governments have.
To the OP. The game is Relics so the reading of the Eastern Front is also theirs, they have every right to do so. After all it's just a video game. In one way I like this approach. There is heroism as Symbiosis stated, it's just not the typical one. In the other hand I understand the moan, but remember this: all sides had heroism, all sides committed terrible crimes. No doubt. Interestingly, the more I study the World War 2, the more I find hideous crimes made by the Allies which westerners aren't told about. Of course, history is written by the winners.. |

There is a difference between using powerful units/tactics and just letting artillery do all the work for you, that isn't a tactic at all.

I just congratulated your teammate on his pro arty party, then he started with the insults.

So you couldn't use snipers? PGrens? or Grens to flank and destroy the AT Guns? Even mortars? Nah, you used Arty spam which is very very lame and never fun to play against. That's why he probably raged at you.
Using snipers and PGs versus at least 2 Soviet snipers - not so simple and easy. Arty spam? I wouldn't call 2 piece of arty a spam and the Panzerwerfers were somewhat ineffective in that patch. Yes, we could have used other methods but it's irrelevant, you missed my point.
But in the end, we ALL have to remember its just pixels on a screen and chill out sometimes. Don't hate the player, hate the game. If you can't hate the game, then go play CoD.
Yes, agreed. Sometimes you get mad and angry, nothing wrong about that. However insulting opponent player is not acceptable. In the end it's only a video game. |
There isn't anything wrong with using strong tactics like these I do it myself sometimes...
Now then, why did you have so much difficulties to accept my teammates 2 field howitzers and my 2 Panzerwerfers? You and your teammate fielded quite many ZiS-3 so getting artillery was completely logical thing to do. Yet you still rant, abuse us verbally and so on. |
