I remember when MG crewmen weren't 3/4ths of a person, and wehr players frequently build more than one mg team, instead of 4 grenadiers. |
It'd be great on zookas and shrecks. Give em something do do.
|
Yeah, I'm still thinking that losing your AT vehicle in the faction with two Tier 0 sources of AT, playing against the factions with easier to kill vehicles, is not the end of the world.
The other guy paying 20 fuel, 340 manpower, and 60 munis to lay that mine (and bait you across it) seems fair. |
Well the riflenade oneshotting things is not new. Daggum squads clumping up have been with us for quite some time.
If stuff really whipes that regularly, yeah I reckon something needs to change. Lower damage would be my pick, since too small of AOE's just means shots miss and don't do anything.
OTOH grens with LMG's being less viable is something I will always endorse. Wehr has the easiest access to a variety of units and I think it's stupid as hell that one of their strongest strategies should involve just building one type of thing. |
So if losing the puma loses you the game, how come OKW players still win games without building one?

Counters by type:
Sensible: (sadly neither shuts it down very hard):
-grenspam and fast tech to an ostwind
-mortar HT
Paid Commanders:
-assgrens (and some regulars for fausting cars)
-stormtroopers teleporting from a house
Awesome (but not tested):
Double Scoutcar or Scoutcar + Halftrack - remember that PTRS take a moment to aim and the not-buttoned vehicle can drive around in them to keep resetting their aim time. Bonus points if you chase them back to HQ and whipe with some pios or whatever popping outta the HT. No idea if this actually works, but golly imma try it if I ever meet a sniper-spammer. If you pull it off post a replay. |
There should just be some reward for surrounding a heavy tank, or a decent chance of punishment for driving a heavy right past a snare squad. Instead light equipment really just gets to skedaddle, and plays no role once late game stuff (axis and soviet at least) comes out.
Medium armor is fine, since snares and light armor (from behind) regularly pen it. |
Yeah lower rear armor is something i'd like. If you can't support your tank, OR just reverse gear and rotate your ass away from the T-70 (or stuart, or panzer 2, or upgun-scoutcar?) long enough to get those 2-3 shots in to kill it, you deserve to die.
Similarly, it'd be nicer for the poor Amis if sneaking some zooks around the side actually mattered. They still just bounce off a lot of the time. And yes, snare abilities bouncing off of the ass of the tank are infuriating. |
My point was that theres almost always a way to get something the faction is otherwise missing through doctrines, and it hasn't broken the game. One commander where uncle sam gets a heavy isn't going to eff up balance (except during the initial release - relic uhh.. Finds a way)
Apart from balance concerns theres no reason not to add cool crap to the game. Hell i don't even like heavy tanks., gimme a sherman up front and a jackson in the back any day. Just don't understand all this dogma about "faction design" .
Also i too miss the hetzer and hellcat. |
Wheres mah gorram pershing, rangers, an jeep (not that i don't love the doge)? If the "faction design" is in the way of the awesome then ignore it.
The notion of faction uniqueness is bunk. Okw is the "no mg/no medium tanks" faction, but there are totally doctrines that provide those things. The only thing they have no access to is a reinforce capable halftrack.
Meanwhile the us is the faction wothout antipersonell mines and without a heavy tank.
Soviets are the faction without a buildable defensive structure.
Wehrmacht have everything, one way or another.
