I love the new penals, i use them to support my conscripts,and since they are cheaper now,and beat grens consistently at close range. With flamethrower they can actually damage pg's.( They couldn't previously) |
what i think could work is a 4X ppsh upgrade "assault engineer" upgrade for combat engineers. Increasing their armor very slightly and giving them ppsh'es |
honestly, i love the new patch. I actually like the fact that pios are actual combat troops now. It makes for an interesting combination.
Because in reality, pioneers WERE inded combat troops, and they were the ones that usually suffered absolutely huge casaulties. |
Ah well, it's for the best I suppose. This way their upgrade and abilities improve their utility rather than reduce it.

actually, i completely misread this.
The kar 98k does 2x more damge close range than the mosin, while dealing 3x at long range.
But i guess it's balanced because grens now are 4 man conscript teams which means as they die they quickly lose dps. While conscripts dont lose dps so quickly. |

Also, one thing to keep in mind ,shocks are no longer going to be the HUZZAH CHARGE COMRADES againts a bunch of mg's they are instead going to be a very powerfull flanking unit.
Their dps at close range is 10 for 1 ppsh, which means, that the whole shock troop squad is going to have 60 dps , which means your average grenadier squad is going to last 3-4 seconds before being wiped out. HMG crews are going to last even shorter, maybe just 2 seconds before being wiped by shocks.
However, shocks are not going to be as durable as they are now.
Oh,and this is from a 10 meter distance.
I'm also glad that the german light vehicles got delayed, since FHT now required T3 tech, shocks + T1 might actually be a viable strat now a days. |
you guys also forget that pgs and grens are basically going to be 4 man conscript squads, except pgs which have a very slight 0.2 armor more than conscripts.
So basically all german infantry is going to win at long range, however if soviets manage to properly get in close, you are quite literally. Lets just say... fucked.
I also have no idea why everyone thinks ass gren spam is going to work. If you manage to find some 100% cover approach to get close range, then okay, you will win vs concsripts.
However if you think just running at no cover vs concsripts and win is going to work, then you are wrong. Because conscripts will kill atleast 1-2 assault grens before your assault grens get close range.

The problem is the Germans won't have anything to counter penal spam now, nothing. The Gren LMGS move up a tier and MGs aren't going to be effective due to the increase in small arms fire as well as the buff to grenades/Molotovs(?). Tier 0 is going to suck as Germans.
actually no, kar 98K does MORE damage than the SVT 40 at long range , penals are going to lose even HARDER than conscripts vs grens long range. You really have to stop thinking this is coh 2, there are NO good units, the side which uses any unit effectivelly wins.
