You sure can sit it somewhere and have it do nothing, but then it's just a waste of fuel. And the Sturmtiger is for assaulting fortified positions and killing support weapons, not that you would know that... Put Jadgtiger on the island (Steps) and watch it sniping incoming tanks without any micro. Secure sides with mines and the party begins. I have a friend who is using very nice playstale. Defensive commander, sandbags, little AT guns etc. he would love to see Strumtiger attacking his positions. I give 15-20sec for ST before it dies. Stuka is doing everything better if we are talking about support weapons. fortified positions? It's like allies have bunkers, paks43 or anything fortified... If you using Strumtiger so often, I would like to see replay with pro Sturmtiger usage but of course not against total noob. It's extremely slow speed means that if your getting flanked then you need to be extremely quick on the reaction to moving it. And how excatly you want to move it when your ennemy blocks you? You have to be fast to bring volks/puma or any other AT. But if Jadgtiger is flanked, then you did something wrong cause no one keeps JT alone. In: COH2 Balance

Sighting for it, shooting through shot blockers, ect. It requires more micro because it's hard to hit things with it, not because it's fragile. What else, exactly is your explanation for it being the least built unit in the game? Put it behind something what blocks sight and wait for blob. I don't see any micro. I guess you have bad knowledge what micro is. Take a Sherman and kitting Volks, all the time you need short reverses. Same for M8. And while doing this, you need to use your infantry as well. Or Jackson. Move, shoot, fall back, attak through flank, coordinate it with infantry. Sturmtiger does not need even half of that micro. It's the least built unit not because of micro but because of utility. It won't save you from 3 Shermans but Panther will. It won't save you from blob cause it's very easy to avoid. The only time Sturmtiger is useful is when you are playing agasint total newbie or when your enemy is blobbing hard, and you hide Sturmtiger behind something so we wont see and them boom, blob vanished. But this does not need a micro. Keeping unit behind and waiting for enemy. It's like you would say that Jadgtiger needs micro. It just sits and snipes. OKW unit which needs a micro is for example Puma but nor Sturmtiger. In: COH2 Balance

It's huge steel can that fires and doing nothing for next XX seconds. When compare to Jackson, Scott or Sherman it does not need any micro. Even if you expose it to AT, it will survive without problems. You can only use it as scarecrow most of the time, but it's not a micro when you look at USF In: COH2 Balance

USF techs faster to Major (t3) than OKW does from the Mechanized HQ or the BG HQ. If you get a LT first than you can get a major before the OKW opponent gets a Schwer. But if you make a unit then obviously you wont, but if OKW makes a fuel costing unit and you don't you will get there faster. Both Mjr and Schwerer can be deployed around 8-9min without M20, AA or Flak, Puma and assuming that both sides have fuel all the time, but once M20 or AA... Sherman cab be deployed around 10-11. But again, it's a theory. More often you will get Sherman around 12-14min because of cut offs etc. Point is, they are quite similar is speed of tech BUT once OKW launch muni->fuel we have a different story. What's more, Major can be sometimes faster than Schwerer but whole tier will de dead for some time cause you need fuel to call anything. Once Schwerer is up, you can insta call 1-2 Obers. So they are similar, but Schwerer's units will be used earlier than Major's so in fact OKW is the fastest. But if we look at the time when first truck is converted, let's say, 3min, not 4-5, then Schwerer will be faster than Major. What's more, T1/T2 has no meaning for OKW while Lt/Cpt is a huge difference. If USF player goes for Cpt/Mjr then no doubt that Schwerer will be a way faster. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Strategy as allies11 Mar 2015, 13:50 PM 10-11min Sherman all day long. First two Shermans can be devastating against OKW. If I feel I can win around 20min I make third Sherman. Great AI, good AT + AT gun support. If I pushed back my enemy, yet still he is in game, then it's time to switch tactic. Shermans become useless vs Jadgpanzers or Panthers. Now it's the time to keep them alive unitl you have enough fuel for different units. Most deadly part agasint OKW is about to begin. Obers, vetted Volks + Panther or Jadgpanzer + Schwerer in the middle of the map + Pak43 - just garden me (Faymonville with OKW at south spawn with fortification is my nightmare). Now it's the time for two Scotts. Thery are doing great job agasint Pak or Trucks but one Panther rush and they are gone so it's damn hard to use them. You need to lay down AT mines in crucial points so Panther won't get them, but again it's huge micro... 2 Scotts, 3 Rifles (or 2 Paras), 2 Jacksons, maybe 1 Sherman which stayed alive. All units damn fragile, few seconds and they are gone but when coordinated well enough, such comb might be amazing but again... You can shoot with Scotts, flank with Jacksons, reverse with Scotts, lay mine and push with infantry at once. Add pathing issues which are deadly for USF and Scotts will vanish is a blink of an eye. Where La-7's came to counter Axis air units I was saying about something similar for a quite long. Ability for 100-150 to load a figther which will hunt down any plane that shows up. Little risky cause you dont know if you will kill cheap recon or expensive strafe. In: COH2 Balance

CAS is not powerful cause of planes... It's powerful cause of fuel->muni Planes are only useful (AT ones) against blocked tanks, immobile or with engine damage.
