And do You enjoy war game without RNG involved? I don't.
Example of T70 wiping squads is bad one cause it's not because of AoE or RNG, it's because of insane clumping of the infantry where models stand almost on each other. Fix this, or make spread-out button and you will see 70% less wipes.
I truly hate when KT hits the field when Im playing USF cause it's wiping machine agasint Rifles but again, most of the time it's caused by clumping.
And I don't agree that Axis squads are easier to wipe cause they are 4-men. 6man maxim, Cons or Guards die as well to one rifle nade because of, again, clumping. Of course, they have slighy higer chances to survive cause of 2 extra men but it's not gamechanging.
It's long time since Soviet mines wiped my squad, but inflicting non-lethal damage is pure pudding. Mines are killing people. Decreasing health only is stupid as taking 152mm shell on the chest and surviving it.
It's war, bullets are flying everywhere, infantry is dying.
Yes, Im pissed when almost dead IS2 is getting away cause of 3 bounces in a row. I may even lose a game because of this. But on the other hand there are plenty games when RNG is in my favour and let me win. One of the components of epic battles is RNG, not math. Math may create more stable and predictable game but it's also killing fun and makes every engagements quite similar.
Like true war. You can read about Tigers destroyed by few shells, but you can as well find informatiosn about Tigers which survived over 100 shells and we have this in CoH2. Dying Tiger after every 10-15 shots would kill any fun.
___
I pointed scatter and AoE cause most of the time there are whines about IS2 or ISU by Axis players while axis units are no worse, in fact they are better.
It's not Star Craft. Pure math war-game would be boring as hell. Squad wipes are needed.
Im playing RTSes for ages. Not big-ones like StarCraft or WarCraft, cause they are boring with their predictability. Cossacks 1? Amazing, most of the time mirror design RTS game with unit like multibarrel cannon, regular cannon or howitzers able to kill 10-30 models per shot, apart from regular fight between soldiers.
Warlord Battlecry? Great RTS, 16 factions, still balanced with abilities to wipe entire army in a seconds.
Battle for middle-earth? Ents, nazguls' beasts smashing whole squads.
Wiping squads is part of the game, very good one. It's just Ostheer and USF suffer more from this than Soviets and OKW )which float MP so much that in place of wiped squad can put 2 squads).
As for wiping potential, OKW and Ostheer have better options.
Of course, there are units like ISU and KV2 but they are sluggish and they have reload over 10secs. There is doctrinal Bulldozer, which is worst that Brummbar. HE Sherman which is slighty better than Stug E but it also has bigger scatter and finally IS2 which has AoE only 0,5 bigger than Tigers while being very inaccurate.
On the other hand Axis have flaks, which are amazing and killing groups of infantry per burst. Brummbar, Tiger, Tiger Ace, King Tiger (which is wiping machine) or Sturmtiger.
Allies have only better mortar in terms of wiping potential. But if we look at vehicles, Axis are slighty in front.
Of course, Im pissed when my brand new Obers with LMG clump so much that first shell from Pack kills them all but that the problem with clumping, not with wiping potential.
"Spread out" button would solve many issues.
this here is my issue. i almost never get into a defensive situation involving PG's where the allies have to assault me.
it's pretty clear that i shouldn't use them to spearhead an attack, nor should i use... essentially any infantry, so how do i attack as the wehrmacht?
Small steps. Don't charge through open, wide area 30m to get behind cover. Move forward from cover to cover. You don't need to get close to inflict damage like Shocks. From wall to wreck, from wreck to hole, not from wall straight to hole.
If you see Cons behind cover, charging is not best idea since you will probably lose 1 model which mean 1/4 of your DPS.
At the range of 30 they are still better than Grens with LMG! Keep that in mind, so you can use them at almost max range as well.
But whole point is, to get them behind cover, and force your enemy to get to you (high mid-long dps is something forcing enemy to get close) and while your enemy is getting close, your DPS is growing allowing you to melt closing in infantry.
I have only replay of the last game (3v3) with Jadgpanzer (25kdmg vs vehicles) 2 KTs (16k dmg vs vehicles). Overall 75k dmg and over 300 kills. 2 KTs + Tiger Ace with A-Move into IS2, Jacksons and AT Guns.
About trolling ISU and chasing E8, it was Lienne Forest, south spawn. I ve killed 2 ISUs thanks to pircing rounds and I was fighting with E8 in their range - since shock is broken/not working as it should be
Just finished 4v4 with Jadgtiger trolling ISU with pircing rounds, chasing E8s and 3v3 with Jadgpanzer sniping Jacksons and 2 KTs rolling over everything and giving garden about IS2 backed up by Jacksons
Against King Tiger, Tiger or Tiger Ace covered by Jadgpanzer or Jadgtiger allies cant do much, unless Axis players make a misteake.
How many maps do you think there are with a single clear lane of 85 range? The Jadgtiger is a waste of time on maps with lots of shot blockers, while the Elefant's mobility at least allows it to handle crowded maps better.
Don't compare medium TD's to super heavy ones, kids.
Forget about pircing rounds?
Catching 60range unit with schrecks is L2P.
Catching 85range unit with 40-60 range is cause by many issues.
Are you seriously unable to deal with Tigers, Panthers, JP's or KT's this late after release? The Jadgtiger and Elefant are still also vulnerable to flanking, especially since the JT can get stun locked fairly easy.
The super heavy TD's aren't viable on every map, (this includes the ISU). If you don't pick shit doctrines and coordinate you will be fine, the same goes for Axis and Allies in this regard.
I will use your argument about Jackon 60 range so only noobs are caught with schrecks.
So in the same way, only noobs let enemy shoot at 85 range unit which outranges everything.
Me thinks you have never faced Jacksons + mark target or IS2's support by Jacksons. Or people using Priest pop cap abuse.
Allies in 4's and 3's simply require you to not be brain dead, as in not picking literal garbage doctrines. As a person who makes AT's of both sides his habitat I can assure you winning with an Allies AT versus a top ranked Axis AT is just as easy as the reverse.
At some point, when Axis players start rolling Tigers, Panthers and King Tigers backed by Elephant, Jadgtiger and Jadgpanzer, IS2, ISU or Jackson can do pudding.
