It would take something like three ML-20 barraging the same area for it to be a dangerous zone. I'm pretty sure there's a damage reduction modifier on friendly units. You could try it out in cheatmod. That said, the ML-20 is not in a good place now. In: COH2 Balance

I monitored my game last night and it barely went over 1GB usage. Went down to 700-800MB after a match. I'll do some more profiling in the coming days. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Optimization patch for the love of RNG gods29 Oct 2015, 15:39 PM There's one area Relic could definitely fix and that's the sudden lag spikes due to audio fetching. Basically what happens is that when you load a game, not all audio assets are preloaded into your system memory (probably in an effort to save space). This is common practice in other games as well and usually results in 1-2 seconds freezes while a previously unused sound file is fetched from the disk. In most games, the problem goes away after playing for a few minutes because all the required sounds eventually end up in memory. In CoH2, you can finish a game against one faction, start a second game against a different faction with its own unique set of sounds that again require fetching and end up with more lag spikes. This can be particularly frustrating if the sound that needs fetching is say, an incoming grenade warning. So what can Relic do? They can prefetch more of the available sounds before a match starts. The downside is loading times could end up significantly longer and memory requirements could go through the roof. In the worst case, a sound file would end up in a page file ( and therefore on disk ) so we would see no change. People with loads of system memory should see an improvement however. If you don't want to contribute anything to identify the problem and are content to just whine, that's fine. But don't spew shit like "It's already been proven, no need to do anything" without actually linking to any supporting proof. No need to prove shit that's already been proved. Where is this proof? Tracking RAM usage isn't hard and +1 doesn't help our cause much. If something is broken and it becomes public, there's much more of an incentive for Relic/Sega to act. So if you find a memory leak, record it, post it in trending. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: RNG26 Oct 2015, 20:08 PM The current RNG system is relatively easy to size up precisely because every consecutive hit has the same chance to hit or miss. Under your system players will have to count hits or misses in order to better predict their chances of success. What if you missed a hit because you're microing something else? It's just so unintuitive. The goal of RNG in this game is to force players to constantly adapt to an ever changing situation. The only RNG we should remove is situations where RNG offers no room to adapt: like planes falling from the sky, projectile one-shots, etc. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Why are Internet requirements so high?26 Oct 2015, 19:07 PM I used to play on wireless and had to invest in ~$700 worth of hardware to get a decent connection in my house. I got an ASUS wireless adapter and the Netgear Nighthawk router. Even then, playing on a 5GHz connection wasn't stable due to the shorter range of the signal and me being on a different floor than the router. On a 2.4GHz connection I could get a decent ping most of the time but even then there would be a temporary connection loss once in a while. When playing a shooter, the connection issues were even more apparent. Bottom line: WiFi and gaming don't go well together unless you're close enough to the router to wire it in the first place.
