So many Dawn of War 3 fanatics. It's quite amusing.
We'll be even more entertaining when they realize what Dawn of War 3 is like on release.
Sega isn't dying unlike THQ so the early, rough coh2 should be avoided. I mean it will still be unbalanced and probably unoptimised, but... |

Is the mortar HT useless against emplacements these days? I remember when they would burn them down in one incend barrage lol. I know they nerfed damage but in principle that would be a good ost counter. |
If you wanted a realistic way to handle it, it wouldn't be that the rec acc goes up in a blob, it would be that bullets were modelled balistically, and missing one person might result in hitting another model clumped up nearby. This is the real world reason why soldiers don't march in tight formations clumped up in battlefield situations against accurate, massed enemy fire.

I don't mind the idea of an air power commander for USA, certainly they deserve it more than the Germans do. But I consider redistribute resources to be somewhat cancerous. |
The Sherman does not have less range than a panzerschreck. However, the range difference isn't massive and unless you're reacting quickly you will get caught by them. Please note that the range on your main gun is higher than your sight radius is - if the Sherman is scouting for itself, you only have a few meters of difference between spotting them and them firing at you. If you have other units providing line of sight, it's easier to kite them.
Shermans, even with HE rounds, are only so so at taking on volks blobs. You will be constantly retreating from them which is not good. However you should have infantry to support you. In general, your infantry should be focussed on countering their infantry - if they have heavily invested in volksgrenadiers with combat package upgrades, then you should be heavily investing in either M1919 LMG upgrades (for infantry company or tactical support company) or into BARs for your men.
You will run into situations where they will deploy obersoldaten as the counter to your infantry in addition to their volksgrenadiers. This can be tricky to deal with, it depends on the situation. You can focus fire them first and then deal with the volks with impunity, or you can try to use your Sherman in conjunction with infantry to take on both simultaneously, the infantry focus firing the volks so that your Sherman can attack the Obers. |
I still hate the flame nades in general but yeah the suppression tweak with grenade range should help a lot. |
Just randomly spitballing here, but here is a way we might have dealt with the shrek blob problem without just removing shreks:
- Med truck sidegrade slightly more exxy, 150/20, but unlocks medics AND pzschrecks.
- Mech truck sidegrade unlocks repair pios and STG44 upgrade
Then, increase the amount of time it takes to aim schrecks. This would mean that you would have slightly more time to react to the blob and would make kiting it slightly more forgiving. With the aforementioned changes, it would also mean that only certain builds get them and there would be a bit more of a fuel sink before they showed up.

There are far too many moving parts in this patch to possibly speculate on whether or not Axis have been overnerfed, so people should keep their knickers from getting into a twist until the test-patch goes live. Then, in actual gameplay, people will be able to see what the new lay of the land is, balance wise, and make further tweaks before going live to the main build.
Note that this involves playing the game, i.e. not just posting about it on the forums and theorycrafting. I know that's a new concept to some. |
