I remember when the MG 42 was good, I faced MG 42 Spam in 2v2 on Road to Kharkov. Literally from one end of the map to the other was a line of MG 42's, we could not get by at all. It was quite silly. |
Hull down I don't know what it gives. Spotting Scopes on the other hand increase vision by 90-95 percent, and are really great. Normal vehicles go from 35 sight to around 68 sight, and Recon vehicles (just the 222) go from 50 sight to nearly 100 sight. Vet 2 222's actually have closer to 134 sight, the longest of any unit in the game and practically a maphack. |
While we're on the subject, is a cooldown even necessary for swtiching between the two ammo types? It would simply be the tank commander saying "load HE" and the loader grabbing an HE round. they don't have to go around back and beg the qaurtermaster for some ammo.
Seems realistic enough to me, the TC says "Load HE" and they have to open the breech, remove the AP round, store it, take the HE round, and load it.
Not that CoH2's Shermans have TC at all, hell if you buy the M2 on top there's only one man in the turret |

If I understand the stats right, then it's only got 960 RPM, while the Maxim is only 480. Funny how they're actually much slower than RL.
after vet 2 its super awesome, i don't know what you guys are talking about. even the AP rounds help in some situations.
Ah so the solution is to play Elite Troops and use extra fuel and manpower to build a reliable MG 42. |
Soviets had the zis-2 57mm which was comparable to the pak 40 in terms of armor penetration, but for some reason relic decided to give the soviets a zis-3.
Probably because production of the ZiS-3 Field Gun was 10x higher than production of the ZiS 2, with 100k guns made compared to 10k guns made. And the game isn't realistic anyway, like the Panzer IV Ausf. G / J having roughly equal penetration to the T-34/76 and M4A3, or with identical weapons having very different stats, etc. A good example is the Pak 43, which is used in an Emplacement, on the Elefant, and on the Tiger II, yet is completely different on each unit. |
The US AT Gun is pretty good though, it has the highest rate of fire with the possible exception of the M-42, and at Vet 1 it can go to 70 range, the longest of any AT Gun excluding the Pak 43. |

I stopped using 222's when I noticed they usually died if I took my eyes off them for a second, and never really got their value's worth in the end screen. It's better to just play T1 > T4 and crutch on OKW to do all the heavy lifting until I can get a Panther out to begin the counter-offensive.

I imagine the gunner in the T-70 is actually a very well trained monkey, who is using both his hands and feet to load and fire the main gun and machine gun whilst tracking the target with the turret. The man that pops up in recon mode is actually a puppet with a periscope inside to fool the Germans into thinking the Russians don't have highly trained tank monkeys. |
